- Krafton and Iron Mace have mutually agreed to end the Dark and Darker licensing contract.

KRAFTON and Ironmace reportedly have mutually agreed to terminate the licensing contract for the Dark and Darker intellectual property (IP). As a result, KRAFTON might get to release its RPG title, currently known as Dark and Darker Mobile, under a rename.
As the Dark and Darker Mobile closes in on launch, a different name becomes a dilemma
As per MTN, KRAFTON recently ended the agreement and informed its teams on the same day. The game, developed by Krafton’s subsidiary Bluehole Studio, was confirmed after KRAFTON acquired the exclusive global license for Dark and Darker Mobile back in August 2023. It was originally called Project AB.

Following multiple closed beta tests, Dark and Darker Mobile began a soft launch phase in Canada and the USA earlier this month and was set to release in the regions on the 5th of February 2025. After this, it was initially planned for a full release in the first half of 2025.
With this change, the game will now move forward under a different brand. However, Krafton now faces the challenge of rebranding the game before its official launch. It isn’t an easy task for sure, since the game is already similar to the PC release going by its first impression.
There is no official statement from KRAFTON or Ironmace yet on whether Dark and Darker Mobile will see a rename. How they will work it out is another question so delaying the launch is a possibility too. I will update this space as more details come in, so keep an eye out.
