Netmarble’s Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds game economy is already shattered with NFTs

Netmarble has dropped the ball again with monetization

Netmarble has dropped a decent and rather enticing title but then shattered the game’s economy by throwing in greedy gacha mechanics that enrages and drives players away except this time there’s crypto involved. Now crypto has been very controversial in its own right too, to say the least. But mix gacha mechanics and crypto economy and you might have a recipe for disaster, and Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is the prime exhibit for this.

Their official Blockchain website proclaims- Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds employs a gameplay-based blockchain system, giving players who enjoy Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds the opportunity to play to earn tokens through gameplay.

The crypto elements are killing any sense of challenge in Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds

A Reddit post describes the economic situation in Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds in the best way. Crypto was said to be “minimal” in the game but it seems like you can literally buy the best in slot sets and pets in the game right off the store. No gacha, no gimmicks, just straight purchase. the post says. It’s quite obvious that when the best PvP gear is placed behind a paywall, the competition is rigged and there’s not much to work for, bringing the progression score very low.

The game’s main currency, Territe, is crucial to most features of the game and is purchasable through the Marblex Wallet. Now the issue here is that without buying it, players are at a significant disadvantage and would have to go through a slow grind, completely ruining the fun of the game.

Gacha elements were already not the best thing to ever happen and now with crypto, it seems like the situation might just get worse. Unless Netmarble is able to fix the monetization situation, the game might be heading towards a sheer cliff to its downfall.
