Niantic may be reworking the Mega Evolution system of Pokemon GO

Rumors suggest that Niantic is reworking on Mega Evolution!

Popular data mining sites like Pokeminers have collected data pulled from several backend updates for Pokemon Go. This contains several detailed texts for new mechanical changes for Mega Evolution, including the addition of Mega Levels and Free Mega evolution. This casts light on the possibility that Niantic maybe reworks the extremely unpopular Mega Evolution System introduced to Pokemon Go in August 2020.

What does the data collected by Pokeminers say

Pokeminers had managed to get their hands on some highly sensitive data from many backend updates, which showed texts that indicated new mechanical changes for the Mega Evolution System that did not do well when it was initially introduced.

The data obtained pointed out that Mega Levels will work as a tracker for all Pokemon that have Mega evolved at least once. The more you Mega Evolve a particular Pokemon, the higher it will go up in the levels among the base, high, and max level classifications. However, these levels will be visible just like normal XP progress, with a daily limit on how many mega levels a user can obtain per Pokemon each day.

The highlight from the data obtained is the Free Mega Evolution change to the mechanics. This will fix the high cost of Mega Energy required for players to regularly Mega Evolve a Pokemon. This feature will trigger a ‘Rest Period’ past which the users will be able to Mega Evolve a Pokemon for free.

Users can still Mega Evolve a Pokemon despite the Rest Period, as the Mega Energy required will be reduced depending on the remaining time left in the rest period. In addition to this, several new Mega perks may also be introduced, like Mega Energy rewards and a chance to Mega Evolve in raid lobbies.

Although these changes make sense technically, it is important to note that they can be changed. Users can stay updated about all the information by visiting the official Pokemon Go website or following social media handles.
