Just recently, Pokemon GO unveiled its calendar of events for July 2022, which included its annual anniversary celebration. This year marks the 6th anniversary of Pokemon GO, and Niantic has organized a whole party exactly like the previous year. From Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at 8:00 p.m. local time the celebration with a 2016 theme will be taking place!
Since Charmeleon appeared to be in the spotlight during the fifth anniversary, this year’s celebrations are being headed by Charizard, the evolution of Charmeleon and, curiously, Pokédex number 006 this year.
New Pokemon in Pokemon GO 6th Anniversary
The Pokémon GO debuts of Cake Costume Pikachu, Party Hat Charizard, and Charmeleon are coming soon! Trainers can now develop their Party Hat Charmanders for the first time in the anniversary campaign! Shiny Party Hat Charmeleon and Shiny Party Hat Charizard might even show up if you’re lucky!

Pokemon GO 6th Anniversary: Battle Weekend
From Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 12:00 a.m. to Sunday, July 10, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. local time, a Battle Weekend will take place in the game.
Event bonuses
- Team GO Rocket balloons will appear every three hours.
- Enjoy up to 20 GO Battle League sets each day.
- Earn 4× Stardust from GO Battle League Rewards.
Use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration.
Shadow Pokémon
The leaders of Team GO Rocket Grunts, Sierra, Cliff, and Arlo, are also using various Shadow Pokémon. Aid Candela, Blanche, and Spark in defeating their enemies and rescuing the Shadow Pokémon! If you’re fortunate, you might even come across different Shiny Shadow Pokémon than usual!
The following Pokémon have also been transformed into Shadow Pokémon by Team GO Rocket. To save them, defeat the Team GO Rocket Grunts!
Special Research
Special Research centered on Giovanni will be available. Complete it to earn Super Rocket Radar! The Special Research will be available to claim until the end of the Season of GO on September 1, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
