Pokemon GO is ringing in 2022 with its New Year event from Friday, December 31, 2021, at 10:00 p.m. to Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 8:00 p.m. local time. In this event, trainers will get to work with Team Leader Spark to celebrate the Season of Heritage with exclusive in-game bonuses, costumed Pokémon, and themed events, and more. Moreover, this event will bring Pokémon wearing new costumes, themed avatar items, the return of some familiar Pokémon wearing party hats, and a certain Shiny Pokémon will be appearing for the first time in Pokémon GO.

The Season of Heritage Story continues along with Fireworks
Following the gift exchange, Spark has now decided to throw a party to celebrate and bring in the New Year! The nearby Pokémons are intrigued by the festivities and drawn in to celebrate. He’s already solved the first part of the locking mechanism, releasing loads of Dragon-type Pokémon into the wild, but two more parts are left to go.
Furthermore, to help bring in the new year, fireworks will appear in Pokémon GO from Friday, December 31, 2021, at 11:00 p.m. local time to Sunday, January 2, 2022, at 12:00 a.m. local time. There will be event bonuses as well here like 2x Hatch Stardust, 2x Hatch Candy, and 1/2 Hatch Distance will also be active. Also, players will get to participate in the New Year’s Timed Research to find lots of Pokémon all prepped up in cute costumes.

Furthermore, you will be able to encounter costumed Pokémons! New Year’s Hat Hoothoot and 2022 Glasses Slowking make their debut in the game. Also, for the first time in Pokémon GO, players will be able to encounter a Shiny Hoothoot. You’ll be able to encounter non-costumed Shiny Hoothoot after the event ends.
