Relic Hunters: Rebels from Rogue Snail becomes the latest addition to Netflix Games

Defeat the Ducan Empire and bring peace to a divided planet!

Netflix announced Relic Hunters: Rebels, its newest addition to its game arsenal, and it was finally released on May 3. Developed by Brazilian studio, Rogue Snail, this game has garnered a lot of attention as a fun-to-play RPG. Netflix subscribers can download the game for free from the platform’s mobile app or directly from the Google Play Store and App Store.

Rogue Snail CEO, Mark Venturelli was thrilled to work with Netflix as one of the earliest pioneer developers for Netflix games. The executive said that the studio particularly was excited to work alongside Netflix as the entire process didn’t involve monetization since Netflix games don’t have microtransactions.

Shoot and dash through levels while upgrading your weapons

The main objective of the game is to defeat the evil Duncan empire with the wide range of collectible and craftable weapons you can find during the game. This sci-fi RGB with a space theme has as many as 44 different weapons, each with its unique abilities. There is a lot of shooting involved, with lots of opportunities to utilize every ability to its fullest. According to the CEO of Rogue Snail,

We tried to make a game that would run easily on older phones, so we could reach a wider audience in places where people can’t afford a new device every year. Besides being huge fans of Netflix, we were thrilled to be one of the early pioneer developers for Netflix Games and to be part of this story from the beginning.

Relic Hunters: Rebels follows similar gameplay to the other games in the franchise. Players can choose from four main fighting characters: Jimmy, Ace, Pinky, and Raff. The game also has a non-binary character, Baru, written by a non-binary person, drawn by a trans woman, and voiced by a non-binary artist, thus making the inclusion natural.

As stated by Mark Venturelli, indeed one of the very exceptional features of the game is that it is designed to run on older smartphones as well. Therefore, allowing everyone to fully enjoy the game rather than just the high-end device owners. With this addition, even though Netflix’s core streaming business is suffering, its game arsenal is gradually growing up from the ground, with carefully crafted game titles.
