Riot Games have officially announced the upgrade of its Shanghai R&D Center to Riot Studio Group. The announcement was made by Marc Merrill, President & Co-founder of Riot Games Global Gaming, on the first anniversary of the Shanghai R&D Center. Riot Games will also establish new local studios across multiple cities in China to research and develop new and existing games. The studios will primarily focus on developing new mobile games for China and other countries.

The Shanghai branch of Riot Games has already been working on major titles like League of Legends, Valorant, Wild Rift, and more. The new studio group will primarily focus on developing new mobile games for China. Several new development projects are already underway.
Riot Games China Studio recruited over 60+ employees at the Riot Games China R&D Studio Group in the past few months. Marc Merill also shared that they will be recruiting more young and fresh talents as a part of the expansion process.
Marc Merill also said, “Riot Games will continue to increase the construction and investment in Chinese game R&D teams and plans to increase investment in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and other Chinese cities, establish local studios, support original development and cooperative R&D projects, and attract more excellent game developers By. The goal of the newly upgraded Riot Games China R&D studio group is to create fun games that can last for decades and provide a better gaming experience for players in China and around the world.”
