NetEase Games have announced that on January 26 it will be rolling out update 2.0 for Rules of Survival, its long-running battle royale game on mobile to take the gameplay experience to the next level.
Rules of Survival is a highly popular 300 player battle royale that was first released on May 31, 2018. The game had already been out in beta since 2017 and has been noted as one of the first games to popularize the battle royale genre.

Although the battle royale genre has seen many high-quality releases on mobile since, most notably PUBG Mobile, Rules of Survival managed to retain most of its fanbase through the years. Like other battle royale games, the objective of Rules of Survival is to be the last man standing on the map. Players can enter into games either as a solo, duo, in a squad (four players), or fireteam (five players).
There are two maps of the game of different sizes and also other modes present in the game. Like other battle royale games, players will have access to weapons, medkits, and other tools that they can use to ensure their survival. Players are required to stay inside “a safe zone” at all times. The size of the safe-zone decreases as the match progresses.
Rules of Survival 2.0 update is going to be a major overhaul
While the game garnered acclaim for popularizing the battle royale genre, the rise in popularity of the other battle royale games has somewhat pushed it out of the limelight in recent times. Therefore it is no surprise to see NetEase rolling out a massive overhaul for the game.
The overhaul is set to come on January 26 along with an array of features. These include new maps, the ability to trade with other players, gun customization in-game, and much more. There are also set to be visual and audio overhauls to the game and thus it wouldn’t be far-fetched to expect the update to be an entirely new game in itself.
