Story Highlights
  • Neo mo.co update expected between May and June 2026 release window.
  • Build system removed, weapons now feature unique abilities and playstyles.
  • New progression includes weapon mastery, upgrade cores, and monster tracking.

mo.co’s “neo” version was always in the discussion since last year, ever since the game released. However, we might finally have a timeline for the same, as the major revamp to the monster-hunting action RPG from Supercell is set for the Summer of 2026.

In a recent interview on the Brazilian YouTube channel SuperVinny, Community Manager João Freitas shared new details about the upcoming “Neo mo.co” update, and there are a few interesting discussions to take note of, which have apparently been getting solid feedback internally.

neo mo.co update: All the important talking points

From what I understood, the current version had a problem where players didn’t really have long-term goals. So the team is removing the old build system completely. Instead of mixing and matching different setups, weapons will now come with their own unique abilities and playstyles.

Progression is also getting a full rework. There’s going to be weapon mastery systems, where you level up specific weapons and earn rewards, along with something called Upgrade Cores, which replace older upgrade items and help power up your gear over time.

There’s even a monster tracking system, kind of like a collection log, and competitive play is shifting more toward performance and speedruns instead of just grinding XP. However, probably the biggest change, though, is on the monetization side.

The game is removing its gacha system entirely. Instead, cosmetics will be sold directly using in-game currency, so you know exactly what you’re getting. João also mentioned that the team is looking into regional pricing, something that has been followed in other Supercell games too.

Some backend changes might not sound flashy, but could make a big difference. Events are moving to a cloud-based system, meaning developers can add or tweak events without pushing updates. So things can change on the fly, and we might even see random, surprise-style events happening live.

Another small but important change is how players are grouped. A new system will push players into shared zones and activities, which should reduce the chances of ending up with bots during gameplay.

On the performance side, instead of adding graphics settings, the focus is on optimizing the game to run smoothly across devices, including lower-end phones.

When will the neo mo.co update release

If you’ve been following mo.co since its global release and open beta phases in 2025, the wait seems to be over. But again, the question is, when will we see the revamped release?

There’s no exact date yet, but the update is expected somewhere around in the Summer, so it can be May or June 2026. However, if we see any delays, it might be extended to the August to October 2026 phase as well. For now, the expectations are high, so hoping the update, whenever it arrives, delivers.
