According to a press release, Resurgence will offer “a unique perspective on key story events that have taken place in The Division and The Division 2“. Apart from a new storyline, the game will also feature an open-world exploration where players will roam in an immersive urban environment. The game will also feature new gears, weapons, and characters.
Like the PC and console games, mobile players will also get the chance to customize and upgrade their Division agents. Players can collect loot and craft mods to upgrade their agents. Players can unlock new specializations with unique weapons and gadgets by levelling up their agents.
Save New York City from collapsing due to the deadly virus
Resurgence will have a different campaign from the previous two series, which takes place in the post-crisis New York City after a deadly virus caused the collapse of civilization. The PvE campaign will see the players take the role of the first wave of agents sent by the Strategic Homeland Division. They will be tasked to fight with the hostile factions to protect the civilians of Manhattan. The game also offers the players a co-op experience where they can roam around the urban environment fighting the enemy factions with the help of their fellow Division agents.
The Division Series: Timeline
As mentioned by the developers, Resurgence will add a unique perspective to the key story events that have taken place in the previous two games. Resurgence occurs in the first wave of agents, which the Strategic Homeland Division sent after the Green Virus outbreak. In contrast, the first game of the series, The Division showed us the events of the second wave of agents that the Strategic Homeland Division sent. According to the timeline, The Division 2 occurs in a different location in Washington D.C. about six months later.
