TiMi Studios to support UNEP initiative in their fight against climate change

Great initiative from TiMi Studios!

Earlier today, TiMi Studios announced that they’ll be forming a partnership with the Playing for the Planet Alliance initiative, a joint effort by the popular game industry to integrate certain environmental activations into video games. This effort of TiMi Studios was facilitated by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) initiative.

TiMi Studios will be creating several educational experiences, in and out of its games, to satisfy its over 110 million players. These experiences will address the critical climate challenges come next year and beyond. Furthermore, TiMi will be joining the Green Game Jam initiative. The mobile gaming industry will collide and figure out innovative ways to empower and educate players in regards to climate change. Other popular game developers and companies are also offering support to help the alliance.

Launched in late 2019 at the UN Climate Summit, Playing for the Planet is a way for the UNEP to offer support to the game industry, helping to raise awareness about the pressing environmental issues at hand. Other core members of the Alliance are Microsoft, Sony, Supercell, iDreamSky (an online entertainment company based in China) and Ubisoft.

TiMi Studios joins the Playing for the Planet Alliance

TiMi Studios became the first China-based game development studio to join the Playing for the Planet Alliance. They are the makers of highly-acclaimed mobile games like Arena of Valor, Call of Duty: Mobile, Honor of Kings and the upcoming Pokemon UNITE. Over the next 12 months, the studio will see to exploring certain ways to decrease carbon emissions.

TiMi Studios also aims to encourage several green game proposals. It inspires youth all over the world to stimulate creativity among them. Thus, it focuses to foster a long-sustainable awareness amongst the next-generation game developers.

In early January, the Annual Impact Report was launched, which revealed the Alliance’s first-year results. It saw over 40 environmental actions were taken by the initiative, with two-thirds of members from the Alliance agreeing to decrease carbon footprints.
