Tower of Fantasy browser event gets hijacked in a funny twist, promoting Zenless Zone Zero and Wuthering Waves

Harmless prank?

Story Highlights
  • The page displayed memes and messages promoting Wuthering Waves and Zenless Zone Zero.
  • Many fans found the situation funny, though it raised questions about event page security.

Tower of Fantasy from Perfect World Games found itself in a funny turn of events, as the game’s latest event page was seemingly hacked, where the mysterious person started promoting other gacha titles. This happened during a browser-based event where players had to upload images and vote for others.

A harmless prank that left the community amused with rival titles promotion

The incident happened via a browser-based event, where an image depicted funny stickers and promotional messages for rival titles, Wuthering Waves and Zenless Zone Zero. And, I personally found it really funny and it wasn’t harmful at all. But this is not the first time something like this happened to a gacha title, as just last year, Blue Archive had a viral moment with the Koyukification incident.

Interestingly, the person behind the incident whom fans call kebabman left a message, “I’m not hacking database (appearance) like R6 accident, this is just basic resource injection.” And along with it, he told players to download and play ZZZ and WW while also sharing their official websites.

Community explains how it was more of an inside joke

Plus, some fans pointed out that this situation don’t even qualify as hack, with one fan explaining, “it’s from a voting event that ask you to upload your character picture so others can vote, ” and another said,If you can upload pic to the internet you can do this too.” Actually, this is more of an inside joke.

Matter of fact, even the devs know about him as one fan revealed, but “they just let him run around as long as he’s not trying to actually do bad stuff.” Now, while this may look funny and not even considered a hack by some, I do believe that these event pages should have better regulation and security.
