The recently concluded Ubisoft Forward 2023 event was an eye-opener for those who are invested in the gaming industry. There were plenty of amazing games showcased, which Ubisoft boasts as one of its most diverse lineups yet. Aftermath, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot expressed his excitement about the future brimming with variety as he spoke about various strategies, the growth of mobile games and a potential AAA to mobile, and more.
Ubisoft CEO feels the AAA Mobile Market potential is untapped
The Ubisoft CEO emphasized the company’s determination to expand its presence in the mobile gaming industry. Yves acknowledged that the concept of AAA mobile games is still relatively untapped, presenting significant potential for growth. He specifically highlighted the impressive-looking mobile adaptations of popular franchises such as Assassin’s Creed Jade and The Division Resurgence.
He further added to look into developing their own AAA mobile games while exploring partnerships with other publishers to bring their brands to the mobile space. Yves recognizes that entering new territories, such as the free-to-play market, requires time to adapt.
The idea behind AAA titles would offer captivating and complementary gameplay experiences on many platforms, which they have taken steps ahead of, for example, controller support on launch for the Division mobile version. This is an indication of more upcoming titles made available for mobile platforms too side by side.
More quality titles will make their way to mobile in future
Furthermore, Yves recognized the vast opportunity in mobile gaming, as it allows individuals who may not have access to consoles or PCs to enjoy Ubisoft’s games on their widely available mobile phones. This statement serves as a clear indication of Ubisoft’s ambitious plans and commitment to creating amazing mobile gaming experiences.
He also added emphasis on the Snowdrop and Anvil, which he considers to serve as crucial differentiating factors, enabling Ubisoft’s creative teams to concentrate on crafting exceptional games. He expressed promise regarding the future lineup which includes Star Wars and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora as well, which ensures focus outside their IPs.
The future of mobile gaming appears promising, especially with the increasing number of titles and Ubisoft’s focus on this platform. Last September, it was announced that more Ubisoft IPs to arrive on mobile as Tencent raises its shareholding, against the ongoing debate whether Ubisoft should bring its IPS to mobile.
