Umamusume: Pretty Derby has officially clinched the Best Mobile Game award at The Game Awards 2025. The 3D sports life-sim from Cygames has been on an incredible run since launch, and this win just adds another feather to its crown.
Umamusume: Pretty Derby also clinched Players’ Choice Game of the Year at GamingonPhone Awards
The win is especially impressive because it beat out some strong contenders, including NetEase Games‘ sci-fi RPG shooter, Destiny: Rising, Persona 5: The Phantom X, and Sonic Rumble from SEGA, and Wuthering Waves, which was a finalist last year as well, making this its second consecutive appearance.
However, Wuthering Waves took home the Player’s Voice 2025 award, so fans had something to rejoice in. Genshin Impact was also one of the mobile contenders in this category.
Meanwhile, Umamusume: Pretty Derby also grabbed the Players’ Choice Game of the Year title at the 5th edition of GamingonPhone Awards 2025 that concluded on October 17, 2025, in Bangkok, Thailand.
For those who haven’t tried Umamusume Pretty Derby yet, it’s a sports life simulation where horse girls, known as Umamusume, train, race, and chase their dreams under the guidance of the player. Every character carries her own personality, story, and motivations. This win continues the trend of the mobile category delivering something new every year.
In 2024, the deck-building roguelike Balatro shocked everyone by taking Best Mobile Game, following Honkai: Star Rail’s victory in 2023 and Marvel SNAP’s winning in 2022. Going even further back, Genshin Impact claimed the award in 2021, while Among Us, which was a standout in the early 2020s with multiple awards under its belt, swept both Best Mobile Game and Best Multiplayer in 2020.
