Back in 2018, a lesser-known game studio Innersloth released a smaller game, of very little acclaim. Thus, Among Us was born and soon fell into obscurity. We would have never guessed at the start of 2020, that this same game would be vying for multiple awards such as Game of the Year. This afternoon, Among Us, has managed to snatch the 2021 Kid’s Choice Awards for the ‘Favorite Video Game‘. The developers at Innersloth, the creators of Among Us posted on Twitter this afternoon to show their excitement.
With changing times and shifting luck from influencers, Among Us had a huge second life in 2020 and the developers at Innersloth have done the most they could with this opportunity. The game truly managed to find its own niche in the gaming community with the advent of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Ever since exploding onto the scene, they’ve managed to claim accolade after accolade.
34th Annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards: Nominees
The 34th Annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards has just passed on March 13th, 2021 in Santa Monica California. The event still managed to run even with lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nickelodeon had allowed many presenters and performers to appear in person at the Barker Hanger, while some appeared virtually.
The favourite video game section was cramped with many widely popular PC and mobile games, such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Fortnite, Minecraft, Pokémon Go, and Roblox. It’s rather interesting to note that 4 out of the 5 games on the list are all available on mobile. The growth of mobile gaming can’t be denied anymore in the world. With the lockdown, more people have turned to their phones. This has increased the number of mobile gamers as people have turned to mobile games to pass the time.
