Vampire Survivors introduces a local co-op mode and announces its launch on Nintendo Switch

Steam version of the game is switching to a new engine!

The widely successful indie game Vampire Survivors has released a new update, introducing a local co-op mode that allows for up to four players to join in, across all platforms where the game is currently accessible. Additionally, the unique vampire-themed game, void of actual vampires, is also debuting on the Nintendo Switch™️ platform, and this release includes the much-anticipated couch co-op update. The Steam version of Vampire Survivors is also switching to a new engine for better performance.

Vampire Survivors brings local co-op mode for multiplayer mayhem

The local co-op mode was released through a free update. This mode permits individuals to engage in the complete Vampire Survivors saga alongside a maximum of four players in a local split-screen cooperative setup. This feature is accessible on PC, Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and mobile platforms, with each player requiring a distinct controller.

Within this co-op mode, players have the option to either persist in their ongoing game progress or commence a fresh journey with companions, united to confront waves of the reanimated deceased. Seamless transitioning between single-player and cooperative modes during different stages enables the unleashing of mayhem collectively. Similar to other successful cooperative games, Vampire Survivors also provides occasions to assess camaraderie and stretch the conventional interpretation of the term “cooperative.”

Furthermore, the new mode introduces a unique cooperative-exclusive item known as The Friendship Amulet, alongside diverse cooperative-oriented configurations that enable tailoring of the cooperative gameplay encounter.

Vampire Survivors hits Nintendo Switch with all-new co-op action

The Nintendo Switch version of Vampire Survivors is now available, priced at $4.99/€4.99/£3.99. This comes with a 10% launch reduction available until the 29th of August. The version incorporates all the recent enhancements, including the much-awaited 4-player couch co-op feature, of the well-received indie game.

Additionally, players can also access the DLCs Legacy of the Moonspell and Tides of the Foscari on the Nintendo Switch platform, each priced at $1.99/€1.99/£1.59. Players can now engage in the thrill of navigating through the night using their favorite Joy-Con controllers.

The Steam version of Vampire Survivors has been simultaneously operational on its initial Phaser engine and a novel engine (which the developers required for enhanced porting and stability) for some time. With comprehensive testing confirming the superiority of the new engine over the old counterpart, the game’s Steam edition is set to completely transition to the new engine.
