gamescom asia 2024 is all set to kick off another season of fun and excitement, and the grand extravaganza will take place in the Suntec Convention & Exhibition Centre, Singapore from October 17th to October 20th, 2024. With that being said, let us see what the fans can expect from the gamescom asia 2024 event as an audience.
As usual, there will be two days of events for the business side and two days of events for the consumer side. In this article, I’ll focus only on the consumer side, so that fans can know what they’re signing up for!
What to expect from gamescom asia 2024
Entertainment Expo and Indie area
Showcase of games and having fun is usually the most important aspect of having events like these, and gamescom asia 2024 looks to amp up the fun with the Entertainment Expo. Open from October 19 and 20, gamescom asia’s entertainment area is a section where gamers, fans, and families can look forward to enjoying the latest video games, esports tournaments, hardware showcases, live performances, and meet and greets.
Always, indie studios are something gaming enthusiasts will be keen to look at. In collaboration with Indie Wavemakers, the event has the Indie Area. This section will feature a showcase of creative and upcoming titles from independent studios. Both the business and entertainment areas will feature indie games, giving developers a chance to break into new markets and connect with global audiences.
Live Main Stage fun
The main stage will be the heart of live action, offering a packed schedule of performances, guest appearances, and exclusive behind-the-scenes insights into popular game franchises. While you’re there, be prepared for amazing music performances, interviews with voice actors, and surprise appearances from beloved gaming personalities.
Retro Games, Board Games, and Artist areas
This year, in cooperation with Neo Tokyo Project, the team that runs the popular Doujin Market, gamescom asia features up-and-coming creative talent in the Artists Area. Here, pop culture enthusiasts and artists will showcase their original and fan-made artworks.
Next in line is the Retro Games Area, thanks to which you step into the past and experience historical games. This area is brought back to classic arcade machines, pinball games, and more with a nostalgic ride that re-experiences and revisits the history of video games. More exciting details about this area will be revealed soon.
Explore the best of tabletop gaming at Board Games Area, hosted by Origame. With over 100 board games in its library from across Asia, it enables visitors to experience the latest game titles from Origame and other independent game studios. Whether you are a newcomer looking for a fun family activity or strategizing with friends, gamescom asia has something in store for everyone.
Other attractions
Different other events will happen. You get a chance to meet your favorite gaming creators, developers, and influencers at the Meet & Greet area. This is your chance to discuss all things games or catch a selfie with the people who are part of the gaming industry.
Cosplay fans, assemble! Cosplayers, whether you are trying to recreate a favorite character or competing in the cosplay competition with Neo Tokyo Project, it is the ultimate opportunity for you to celebrate this vibrant cosplay community. Alongside this, primetime will open the event, which will feature the latest game trailers, teasers, and indie showcases.
The CAPCOM Pro Tour is the ultimate stage for competitive Street Fighter 6. Players will battle through eight Premier events and regional tournaments for spots in Capcom Cup 11. The winners of first and second place in Super Premier Singapore earn a spot in the Cup. The finalists split an $18,400 prize pool.
