Where Winds Meet is an upcoming open-world Wuxia game developed by Everstone Studio and published by NetEase Games. Wuxia is a genre of Chinese fiction known for its depiction of Chinese martial arts styles, and the game also follows this pattern. Although this is heading to PC with a limited beta test scheduled this month of April 2024, the game is also hitting Mobile in the future, confirmed to GamingonPhone over an email.
Where Winds Meet brings a beautifully crafted open-world with intense action
With elements of adventure, Everstone Studio and NetEase Games bring Where Winds Meet, where we embark on a journey within an oriental Wuxia, set amidst the tumultuous Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms era of ancient China. Assuming the role of a young swordsman, we need to unravel mysteries surrounding our identity while experiencing thrilling adventures in a historically volatile era, crafting our own tales of Wuxia.
Players can align with various Wuxia factions, each possessing unique martial skills, or remain independent while still learning their specialized techniques. The game also presents different points of interest inspired by Chinese traditions and historical fiction, along with exotic mini-games like traditional instrument playing, Chinese chess, or Touhu.
As wandering swordsmen, you explore a free open world that is rooted in Chinese history, learning the essence of Wuxia martial arts, and utilizing them as fundamental tools for exploration and problem-solving. This exploration can also be seen in the gameplay trailer, which I was blown out given how beautiful the presentation looks.
I’m also curious about various elements surrounding the title. The developers have boasted high-quality, realistic landscapes, real-time weather and lighting rendering, intricate details, and lifelike interactions, and no doubt this is going to look amazing on PC. For mobile, performance devices can give it a wonderful run, but I’m not too sure about the title running on mid-range and below once we get the future mobile launch.
Where Winds Meet closed beta registration for PC is now open
Let me tell you the Closed Beta details. Starting April 2, 2024, North American players, including the ones in the United States and Canada with access to a gaming PC can register for the first round of the Closed Beta Test, whose registrations are closing on April 18th, 2024.
All you need to do is fill out the recruitment survey here. If you are selected, you will get an email confirming the recruitment, with the necessary links to move forward. Pre-download becomes available on April 15, with the closed beta test commencing on April 19, 2024. The beta will end on April 22, 2024.
