The League of Legends: Wild Rift Oceania Championship for 2022 has been announced with a prize pool of $25000 AUD. The championship will have an open qualifiers format to decide the regional champions representing Oceania at an international tournament. However, no further details about the international tournament have been disclosed yet by the organizers.
Although speculations amidst the community suggest that Wild Rift Oceania Championship will give the champions a chance to directly enter the South East Asia league just like last year, which is now called the Wild Rift SEA Champions (WCS) 2022.
The WCS 2022 features six regional competitions for Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan. The winner from these countries will advance to the WCS Finals to determine the Southeast Asian champions. The winner of the Oceania Championship might get a chance to compete here.
Wild Rift Oceania Championship 2022: Format and Participating Teams
ESL has now opened registrations for 128 teams for the League of Legends: Wild Rift Oceania Championship for 2022 on their official website.
Stage 1
Starting from March 11, 2022, the open qualifiers where 128 will go head to head in a best of one Swiss bracket to become the top 8 teams and advance to the GSL stage.
Stage 2
Starting from March 12, 2022, the GLS stage will feature the top 8 teams from the open qualifiers. Teams will go head to head to gain a spot in the winners or losers bracket in the best three-round. The second stage of the GSL bracket will play out the Winners and Losers brackets.
Stage 3
Starting from March 23, 2022, Playoffs will feature the top 4 teams from the GSL stage. Playoffs will be the final stage to decide the tournament’s Champions in a best of five double-elimination brackets. The grand finals will be played between the winner and losers bracket on March 30th, 2022.
Wild Rift Oceania Championship 2022: Prize Pool
The tournament has a massive prize pool of $25000 Australian dollars, out of which the champions will get $10000 AUD, and the rest will be distributed among the rest of the participants.
