WonderPlanet’s puzzle RPG Crash Fever to shut down its global version in December 2023

The Japanese version will still continue for the time being

Japanese developer and publisher WonderPlanet Inc. has announced that the global version of its popular puzzle RPG title Crash Fever will shut down in December 2023. Showing the reason as “no longer feasible to offer a satisfactory service”, the title will close all its global servers on the 21st of December 2023 at at 06:00 (UTC).

However, the company will continue the Japanese version exclusively in the country. The game has been in the market for seven years and created a lot of memories by setting a bond with its players.

After careful consideration, we have concluded that it is no longer feasible to offer a satisfactory service in the future, leading us to the difficult decision to terminate our services“, the announcement said.

Crash Fever global version shut down, sale of in-game items closed

As the shutdown date is only a few weeks ahead, the game decided to close down all its sales on the 20th of November 2023. But until the game terminates its service globally, Polygons and items will remain available for use. The game instructed its players to contact the team regarding any refund requests for the paid Polygons. However, the notice on the official Facebook page wall thanked the players for being with the game from the very beginning.

Earlier in September, Crash Fever introduced a future plan update that stated that the game would not bring any events and characters anymore. Besides, a few items were discontinued. But, it is surprising to announce this quickly about the discontinuance.

The sudden announcement made fans nostalgic with the game closing days before Christmas

Crash Fever features include co-op with up to four players, a bright and pop-styled virtual world, a simple tap-based RPG, etc. Several comments were spotted saying that the announcement made them nostalgic as the game provided all the fun they needed backing the prime days. Others praised the publisher for not declaring this later. Because the Christmas coming ahead could bring back a few events where players might spend a few bucks.

But the current players need not worry as Crash Fever will rotate old events for a few circles before the global version shuts down. Besides, daily login bonuses will continue till the end. The title first came out on the 8th of July 2015 and was released globally subsequently.

With over 14 million installs, it gathered quite a space to be talked about even after its closure. The total revenue also crossed $140 million since its release. However, global fans will remember playing the games while the Japanese will still have the game running.
