Xbox Series X controller will be compatible with Android and iOS devices

Xbox creator Microsoft has confirmed that their brand new Xbox Series X controller will be compatible with Android and iOS devices at launch. This move was highly anticipated given after Microsoft talked about their ‘Play Anywhere’ approach to their Game Pass service. Microsoft’s mobile & tablet game streaming service Project xCloud launches on September 15, along with the complete list of 100+ Xbox titles that will be available for playing on mobile devices.


Android & iOS compatibility through xCloud and Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass is a subscription service with which you get access to a list of 100+ Xbox games, including major exclusives like Crackdown 3 and Sea of Thieves. The much-hyped Halo Infinite is set to follow when it launches later this year.

There’s an upgraded version of the service called Game Pass Ultimate that includes Xbox Gold, which allows you to play online and receive new games every month! Microsoft recently announced that they were going to bundle their game streaming service xCloud with the Game Pass Ultimate subscription, and xCloud is set to launch on September 15, as per the latest announcements by Microsoft. For $14.99 a month, you’ll get access to a giant library of 100+ Xbox games, Xbox Live Gold, and xCloud. This xCloud will allow players to play Xbox games on mobile devices. Now that the new Xbox Series X controller is going to be compatible with mobile devices, you can surely use it to play Xbox games as well as other mobile games with controller support.

You need to download the Xbox Game Streaming app from Google Play Store or the OneCast – Xbox Game Streaming app from App Store to stream Xbox games on your Android and iOS devices respectively.


Which Xbox games will be available to play on Android & iOS devices?

Most of the exclusive Game Pass titles are worth playing, including Yakuza Kiwami 2, Gears 5, Sea of Thieves, or Halo 5: Guardians, Destiny 2, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Grounded, Forza Horizon 4. The full list of 100+ games will be revealed on September 15th.

This will come as a major delight for gamers within the mobile gaming industry who love to play controller supported games. Additionally, Microsoft announced that all Xbox One controllers will be compatible with new Xbox Series X devices. This will definitely give Xbox an advantage over Sony’s PlayStation as players can’t use PS4 controllers to play PS5 games as confirmed by Sony.


When will the Xbox Series X launch?

The price reveal of Microsoft’s most powerful Xbox console, Xbox Series X is set to occur this month, as per the numerous reports. With that, we expect Xbox Series X to launch this holiday season, keeping at par with the PS5 launch.

The project xCloud is set to launch for Android in selected countries including Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Until then, we have to wait to see how the compatibility of the brand new Xbox Series X controller with Android & iOS devices will play out.
