BLEACH: Soul Resonance Review: 3D Bleach game done right

Step into the Soul Society!

BLEACH: Soul Resonance, the long-awaited 3D action RPG adaptation of Tite Kubo’s iconic anime, has finally arrived. And it wastes no time throwing you headfirst into the shoes of your favorite Bleach characters. Developed by Crunchyroll Games, this exciting gacha game delivers high-speed sword combat, glowing Bankai blasts, and spirit-charged duels.

Released globally in late November 2025, this title tries to do something many Bleach games haven’t nailed in years: deliver real action, in real time, with real control. I played it extensively on iOS (iPhone 12) to see whether this massive return to the Bleach universe hits the mark, or sucks as badly as Renji does in the anime.

In this BLEACH: Soul Resonance Review, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on gameplay, story, visuals, monetization, and UI. So stick around to find out if this popular anime game adaptation is worth the time. Engage in real-time Swordplay and Soul Reaper showdowns

The heart of BLEACH: Soul Resonance is its combat, much as you would expect, and thankfully, this is where the game feels most alive. Instead of watching your favorite characters auto-attack or experience boring idle gameplay, you’re actually controlling your Soul Reapers. Yes, you heard me right!

In this 3D game, you swipe to dodge, tap to attack, chain combos, and time your special moves like a proper action RPG. This immersion makes every fight, from beating up lesser Hollows to clashing blades with iconic antagonists, feel exciting and satisfying.

Animations feel and look straight out of the anime, dodges matter, and chaining abilities together feels smooth in a way mobile action games don’t always pull off. One of the standout mechanics is the character-switching system, letting you bring three Soul Reapers into battle and swap between them mid-fight.

Want Ichigo to kickstart the action with his iconic Getsuga Tenshō, or swap to Orihime for an emergency shield, then finish with Byakuya’s petals? You can do that and more. This feature adds strategy, flexibility, and style to every encounter. There’s also the Battlefield Skill system, which triggers stat bonuses or tag-team combo moves when spiritually compatible characters fight together.

And trust me when I say this fun twist pushes the combat to a new level. And it encourages you to experiment instead of sticking to one “meta” team. Not everything is perfect, though. The combat begins to feel very repetitive after hours of gameplay. But there’s a silver lining. If future updates add more abilities, the already-strong combat could evolve into something amazing.

The game offers multiple game modes with classic Bleach Storytelling

For fans of Bleach’s original arcs, BLEACH: Soul Resonance feels like a warm reunion. The story mode recreates early chapters of the anime in full 3D, from Ichigo meeting Rukia to the tension-filled missions of the Soul Society saga. And the cinematic flair of these moments is enough to knock you out of your seat. And for hardcore fans, it feels refreshing while still evoking a wave of nostalgia.

Beyond the main plot, BLEACH: Soul Resonance offers a mix of game modes that keep the experience lively and varied. The Co-op challenges let you team up with friends or other players to take down tough bosses. While Trial missions dial up the intensity even further, throwing you into battles against Hollows.

Supply missions, on the other hand, allow for gathering necessary resources for progression. And the limited-time events keep things exciting by rotating objectives and special rewards, giving you regular reasons to log in and strengthen your squad.

While the overall content pool is still expanding, there’s already enough to keep you hooked. And if the developers continue building on what’s here, BLEACH: Soul Resonance has the potential to grow into that long-awaited Bleach RPG on mobile.

Experience beautiful animations, dazzling Bankais, amidst a faithful Bleach atmosphere

If there’s one thing BLEACH: Soul Resonance absolutely nails, it’s presentation. The characters in the game look crisp and detailed, and the animations, especially Bankai transformations and Zanpakutō clashes, feel like something out of the anime.

Sword trails glow, Hollows crumble dramatically, and every special move has that anime electricity that makes you want to shout “BAN–KAI!” along with the characters. The environments are perfectly recreated, too. And it captures Soul Society’s distinct architecture, Hueco Mundo’s eerie emptiness, and Karakura Town’s everyday charm. Bringing all of it to life with style. Audio also pulls its weight.

And the soundtrack hits familiar emotional beats, as well as tones with adrenaline-packed battle themes. The sound effects, like clashing steel, Hollow shrieks, and spiritual pressure spikes, all add intensity, and voice acting enhances immersion when it lines up correctly.

BLEACH: Soul Resonance offers responsive Controls with a clean UI

Good controls are essential in a full-action mobile game, and thankfully, BLEACH: Soul Resonance delivers smooth responsiveness. The movement, dodging, and skill execution feel smooth and natural. While swapping characters mid-combo executes very well, a detail that’ll leave you utterly blown away.

However, during big battles filled with multiple enemies, dramatic effects, and camera swings, things can get visually crowded. And on small screens, accidental taps or misplaced inputs can happen, especially when the UI gets tight. But once you get familiar with the button layout, though, everything flows smoothly. And it just may take some adjustment depending on your hardware.

Gacha does exist, but it provides an unexpectedly fair experience

Let’s talk about the elephant (gacha) in the room. BLEACH: Soul Resonance does use character summoning, but compared to the more aggressive games in the genre, it’s surprisingly generous at launch. And on launch, players received many free pulls, and many SSR characters are obtainable without spending.

Standard banners offer permanent SSR characters and weapon stamps with clear pity rules. New players receive a discounted Beginner Banner that guarantees an SSR within the first 50 pulls, making it the ideal place to start. After that, the standard 80-pull pity allows you to directly select the SSR you want from the pool.

Weapon stamp pity even starts lower at 40 pulls before shifting to the regular 80-pull cycle, and every 10 pulls guarantees at least an SR or higher. Limited banners behave similarly, but with exclusive units that generally outperform standard ones.

These banners also guarantee the featured SSR at pity with no 50/50, and the pity progress carries across future limited banners until you earn the next SSR. Limited stamp banners mirror these rules, making them the best long-term place to invest your Spiritual Jades if you want top-tier characters with unique kits.

While the pity system seems reasonable, gacha is gacha. Top-tier characters remain rare, and once you push into higher-level content, getting more resources easily becomes grind-heavy. And upgrading your characters and chasing perfect rolls all require a time investment. Unless, of course, you want to spend. For casual players, though, the game feels approachable and rewarding without forcing your wallet open.

Final Verdict

BLEACH: Soul Resonance feels like a game made by fans for fans. And its blend of stylish combat, nostalgic storytelling, and modern mobile RPG systems makes it a true gem. While not flawless, it captures the spirit of the anime better than any Bleach game in recent memory.

Play

If you enjoy fast-paced action, anime-style visuals, and building teams with character synergy, this game is absolutely worth trying. And if you’re new to Bleach, you don’t need to watch the anime to enjoy this game. But if you’re a longtime Bleach devotee, you will find plenty to love. So, that brings us to the end of this BLEACH: Soul Resonance Review.
