A Genshin Impact fan has shared a very interesting online poll that is about the ranking of the most popular Male and Female characters that is currently available in Genshin Impact. The results are based on a poll that is answered primarily by some fans in the Chinese player base, but it still offers an insight into which characters are highly favored by players in comparison to others.
There are two separate Reddit posts made and posted two days ago by a Genshin fan with the Reddit handle of u/Yusukeisbestwaifu. The first post is the poll on the popularity ranking of Male characters in CN, and the second one is the popularity ranking of female characters also in the CN servers.

Surprisingly, the character currently leading the poll for the most popular male character currently in Genshin Impact is Kazuha. However, it is not so farfetched as Kazuha has almost all the appeal factors that a character may have in the game. He is a very cool-looking character that some fans even consider a Husbando, especially with their number two pick which is old man Zhongli.
What surprised ENG server fans though are how Diluc ranks 4 in the current poll as the said player base apparently does not like Diluc as much, especially as although he has a cool backstory, lore presence, and design, they think of Diluc as someone who hits enemies with feather which may be a stretch and exaggeration on how other dps heroes are currently outshining him in the damage department.
The last placers in the toll are Thoma, Chongyun, and Gorou, which are fair enough considering how weak they are to be used and how little they gave story-wise except for Thoma who appeared in a good chunk of the lore but just needed to be saved by the traveler against the shogun. Surprisingly though the bottom of the list includes Razor which many other fans especially in the ENG servers, are best boi Razor as he is quite a powerful 4-star character that many loved especially in his appearance in the earlier quests in Monstadt.

The rankings of the Female popularity poll are up above with a win for the Dendro archon of Sumeru, Nahida. The second and third most popular characters are Raiden Shogun, and Eula. Nahida has been hugely popular and successful since her release in the recent Sumeru update of Genshin Impact. While the other two are the most consistent waifu that Genshin Impact fans are constantly looking for.
One huge surprise for the fans in the comment section is how low Beidou ranked in the poll as in the ENG servers she is one of the fan favorites. Other than that most fans seem to agree especially on the top of the list with Nahida being at the top currently as they said due to recency bias as she is the most recently released archon in the scene.
Final Thoughts
Considering the poll it is interesting if Hoyoverse also has data on the most liked characters of their player base and how they would handle the future releases of characters that are currently under production. With this, all we can do as fans is wait and see how the next release of characters turns out, and if someone in the next release overtakes Kazuha as the most popular Male Genshin Character or Nahida as the most popular Female Genshin Character. Additionally, it would be interesting if Hoyoverse would do an event focused on those that are the least favorite by the player base giving them more depth and likeability to boost the interest of players to them.
