Fresh news regarding the much-awaited Minecraft Movie has just arrived! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jason Momoa is now in final talks with Warner Brothers to join the live-action movie cast of Minecraft movie. Momoa is known for his roles in movies like Aquaman, Dune, and the popular show- Game of Thrones.
Jared Hess will be working with Warner Bros to bring Minecraft to movie screens
Now the Minecraft Movie is something that’s been in the pipeline for a long time. It was first brought up in 2014 by Marcus Persson (a.k.a. Notch), who tweeted about a partnership with Warner Brothers. Ever since then, the project has been getting and missing release dates due to directors like Shawn Levy (who directed Free Guy, a hit movie based on a video game) and Rob McElhenney abandoning the project and some other issues. However, it seems like they’re again trying to make the movie a reality.
A while ago, Kotaku also reported that Warner Bros and Mojang would release the movie in March of 2022 (another release date that they missed), which was going to be about a teenage girl on a quest to save the overworld with a group of adventurers.
This plot isn’t confirmed, yet another Director is now on board. Jared Hess, who’s worked on movies like Napoleon Dynamite, will direct this movie. He’s worked on many comedy shows and movies, so it makes sense to sign him on for this project since the movie should probably have humorous undertones.
