- Supercell is expanding beyond mobile games, with a new job listing for a Senior Film & TV Development Executive.
- The studio emphasizes world-building over simple adaptations.
- With no specific titles confirmed, a Clash universe series or film seems likely.
Supercell may be getting ready to go beyond the mobile screen, and it’s not just speculation this time. The Finnish studio behind Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and Brawl Stars is officially hiring for a Senior Film and TV Development Executive in Los Angeles, helping Supercell work towards world-building.
Supercell’s new role search signals a serious move into the entertainment industry
The job listing reads like a roadmap for something big. The recruitment post, which also screams a big article, had this line, which explains everything Supercell is aiming for: “We are not simply adapting IP, we are world-building.“
As per the description given, the role calls for someone with strong storytelling skills, experience building creative teams, and a solid network in the industry. The ideal candidate they are looking for will combine the creativity of an indie producer with the business acumen of a studio executive.

While no titles have been confirmed, the fact that this position even exists is a strong hint that the Clash universe or another one of Supercell’s franchises might be the next to leap to film or TV. If a Clash series or movie does happen, it’ll be interesting to see how the studio approaches storytelling.
Supercell’s games are built on mechanics and iconic characters rather than having a plot. However, the case is different in their animation shorts; remember Clash-A-Rama and Lost and Crowned? Those were fun snippets that had a story, but more than a TV show, the makers viewed it as a comedy series.
Supercell can learn a thing or two from the mobile game franchises that turned into movies
I would like to talk more about movies because I’ve been a keen watcher of them for a while now. See, when you pick up movies that were born from games, the list is massive. I certainly know Prince of Persia, Uncharted, Mortal Kombat, Sonic the Hedgehog, all of them pulled pretty decent numbers at the box office.

But what fascinates me is when studios take games that don’t have a big storyline, especially mobile games, and turn them into full-blown movies. Here, writers and directors get a blank canvas to build something fresh, and if it works, it is amazing. Angry Birds is a great example, right?
The original game was all about launching birds at pigs. No real narrative, just the pigs stealing the eggs. Rovio Entertainment capitalized on that and made two movies, both super fun to watch. They are also setting up Angry Birds Movie 3.
The Minecraft franchise also launched a movie just yesterday, and slowly, all these franchises are getting one for sure. So I think Supercell can see the concepts and tick what worked and what hasn’t for these franchises to make the Clash universe bigger than ever.
