Rovio Entertainment Corporation, SEGA, and Prime Focus Studios have announced the production of a sequel to the classic slingshot adventure series The Angry Birds Movie 3. It will be brought to you by One Cool Group, Flywheel Media, and Dentsu with DNEG Animation as the animation partner. The release date is not confirmed yet, however, the movie is in the works with some of the cast already confirmed.
The Angry Birds Movie 3 will follow the success of the previous Angry Birds movie released
The Angry Birds Movies have grossed more than $500m at the worldwide box offices and with the new The Angry Birds Movie 3 Rovio and Saga will be hoping for similar patterns of success. The new Angry Birds Movie projects reflect the partnership between SEGA and Rovio as they gear up together to produce alongside Namit Malhotra and his production company Prime Focus Studios.
The movie will see the return of the protagonists Red and Chuck voiced by Jason Sudeikis and Josh Gad, more casting news for other characters will be announced later down the line. Angry Birds has been expanding to multiple different genres and entertainment, with the franchise having shows on Netflix as well, and with the success they are getting it only seems right to keep expanding further.
Angry Birds as a game has a dedicated audience of its own and with the success it has had it has secured its place as one of the classiest titles in the stores available. Recently the game was also made available to Google Play cars, hence expanding the genres and platforms even further. With the new The Angry Birds movie in their lineup, it will be really interesting which direction Rovio takes with their production and operations.
Rovio Entertainment’s CEO, Alexandre Pelletier-Normand, highlighted the limitless potential of the Angry Birds brand, noting its seamless transition from games to film and other media. Speaking of Rovio’s dedication, he added: “Rovio is fully committed to creating entertainment that sparks imagination across various platforms. We’ve seen continuous success in everything from games and feature films to licensed products and amusement parks, and we are thrilled to return once again to the vibrant Angry Birds world with our new partners.”
The release date and more casting information will be shared very soon down the line

The prequel to the movie, The Angry Birds opened at #1 in 50 countries on its release in 2016 and has grossed more than $350m at the worldwide box office. If this trend continues, The Angry Birds Movie 3 will be a success for both Rovio and SEGA. As of now, no information is available regarding the release date, hence stay tuned.
