The second season of the challenger cup is set to begin!

Honor of Kings Challenger Cup (HCC) 2022 is the second season of the Challenger Cup series. This is the highest tier domestic tournament of Honor of Kings in China. eStar Pro will be coming to this tournament as the winner of the previous season. The tournament will be held at an offline location in China which is yet to be announced by Tencent. Tencent Games and VSPN will be the organizers of this season.

Tournament Format

Group Stage

The group stage of the tournament will start on September 13th and end on September 18th. 12 qualified teams from KPL Summer, KGL Summer, and National Championship will take part in this highest tier domestic tournament. The teams will be divided into three groups of four teams each.

The group stage will be held in a single round-robin format. All the matches of this stage will be in Best of 3 (Bo3) format. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the playoffs while the bottom two teams from each group will get eliminated. 

Playoffs

The playoffs stage of the tournament will start on September 22nd and end on October 6th, 2022. The champions and runners-up of KPL Summer 2022 will directly be invited to the playoffs stage. The eight total teams will then battle among themselves, and one among them will be crowned the champion. This stage will be held in a single elimination bracket, where all matches will be played in a Best of 7 (Bo7) format.

Fans can watch the matches of the tournaments on the official YouTube channel of KPL. Honor of Kings is the Chinese version of Arena of Valor, a 5v5 multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA).
