Wild Rift Champions Korea (WCK) 2022 Spring has come to an end today with Korean giant KT Rolster, also known as Rolster Y, becoming the champion. The team was also the winner of the previous WCK 2021. So, the defending champion regains the title of Korean Wild Rift Champion. KT Rolster took the final match after some nail-biting play and defeated Freecs by 4-3 and lifted the trophy.
KT Rolster is Korea’s top seed to the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022
Winning the event made KT Rolster the top seed of Korea in the upcoming global championship, the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022. KT, though, secured a spot for the play-ins after winning against T1 in the first semifinal. The WCK has three seeds for Icons Global. However, being the champion in the event made the team a direct contender. Thus, the next two teams will join in the play-in stage. The positions are already filled as Freecs and T1 took the runner-up, and third place respectively.
WCK Spring 2022 finals saw a dramatic end
Similar to the previous edition, LoL Park hosted the event in front of a live audience. The first four rounds were evenly shared by each team and the drama starts after. Freecs took the fifth round and was looking confident to become the winner as the team, then, needed a single round of the next two. However, KT woke up and made a dramatic comeback and won the last two rounds. After the BO7 finals, the score stood at 4-3, a victory for KT Rolster.
Being the champion, the team was awarded $24,112. The runner-up Freecs took $16,075 and third-placed T1 bagged $12,860 respectively. The champion proved that the team is going to be a strong threat to the others in the upcoming global event. WCK 2022 started last February and featured six teams.
