A prize pool of $710K was in the grabs for the league stage. The league champions, FOUR ANGRY MEN bagged $300K out of it while the runners-up received $125K and the second runners-up took $75K as the rest was distributed among the other teams. To reduce the latency problems, the tournament was held both online and offline mode for teams who weren’t allowed to travel amid the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Brief summary of the PMGC 2020 League Stage

Overall, the league stage was a fight between the PUBG MOBILE World League East champions Bigetron Red Aliens and Chinese team FOUR ANGRY MEN who stood first in the PEL Championship Points for the top spot. While the rest teams showed balanced game and had their focus in qualifying for the finals.

FOUR ANGRY MEN (4AM) indeed deserved to win it, the team displayed a whole mixture of both kill and placement points, aggression, proper teamwork. With the team’s players regularly being featured on daily killboards, each player stepped up whenever necessary for the team. Bigetron Red Aliens on the other hand had an impressive performance as well. The team held the top spot for 3 weeks until having a rough last weekend which allowed 4AM the opportunity to take over and they capitalised pretty well on it. The Red Aliens had to satisfy themselves with the second position this time.

Thai team RRQ Athena showed very consistent gameplay. They maintained their placement points as well as kill points and ended up with 6 Chicken Dinners granting them the third position. Konina Power and Klas Digital Athletics were among the western teams to shine in the tournament as they ended up fourth and fifth respectively.

One last thing you should know about this tournament was the termination of Brazilian team and PUBG MOBILE World League West Champions Loops Esports who were disqualified from the entire league after they violated the code of conduct and competitive integrity rules. The team sat happily on the 6th position and had their tickets for the finals but their silly move cost them all of their weeks of hard work and dreams, which has now allowed A1 Esports to replace them in the finals.

The league proceeded as only 16 teams advanced to the finals and the bottom 8 got eliminated after the league play. The top 16 teams after the conclusion of the League Stage go like this:
