Talent Gaming crowned as the champions of the King Pro League Summer 2023

The champion team has qualified for the KIC 2023!

The highest league event of Honor of Kings just concluded its 15th season. Talent Gaming becomes the champion of the King Pro League Summer 2023. After defeating the defending champion Wolves by a scoreline of 4-2, the team came up as the best. With this title, the champion team is now the 8th unique champion team in the KPL. Winning the esports event has entitled the champion team to a whopping sum of money which is ¥6,190,715 (almost $850,000). Besides, the team qualified for the upcoming international event of Honor of Kings esports, Honor of Kings International Championship (KIC) 2023.

Before the grand finals, 18 teams joined the event for a prize pool of 2.5M USD. Organized by Tencent Games, Fighting Esports Group, and VSPO, the event started on the 14th of June 2023.

Talent Gaming: Campaign of the champions in King Pro League Summer 2023

The group stage was played in three phases. Wolves topped the table after the 3rd phase and went to the upper-bracket semifinals. Talent Gaming, Dragon Ranger Gaming, and eStar Pro were the rest three teams in the bracket. However, Talent faced off with Dragon Ranger Gaming in their first playoff match where the team destroyed the opponent by 4-0 and moved to the upper-bracket final. Later, Wolves stood up in the round but couldn’t hold much longer as the champion team took the round away by 4-1.

However, the Wolves went to the lower-bracket final and picked up a win against KuaiShow Gaming to face Talent in the grand finals again. The match could be a story of sweet revenge by the defending champion. But Talent was too fierce to be stopped and despite Wolve’s attempt to fight back, the team picked up a win by making the scoreline 4-2. Thus, Talent Gaming becomes the crowned champion of the King Pro League Summer 2023.

Talent Gaming wins almost a million dollars as the prize pool

The event featured a whopping 2.5M USD as the prize pool. Winning the crown, Talent Gaming was awarded a total of ¥6,190,715 (almost $850,000). Runner-up Wolves took ¥3,174,792 (almost $435,000) while the third and fourth-placed teams bagged ¥1,796,826 (almost $246,000) and ¥1,207,808 ($166,000) respectively. BuRan from the champion team becomes the grand final MVP and Yisheng from the Wolves becomes the season MVP.

As the KIC 2023 is almost near, the champion team has placed itself as a strong contender for the global trophy. Besides, it raises the expectation bar a bit higher. However, runner-up Wolves will also be looking for a good performance in the coming event.
