During the live stream of League of Legends Season 2022 on the 7th of January, 2022, a small portion addressed the Wild Rift Esports scene. With the onset of the year 2022, Leo Faria, Global Head of Wild Rift Esports has announced that this year will be the first official season of Wild Rift Esports after its debut in 2021.
Several teams from regional competitions around the world will fight against teams of the same region. The goal lies in qualifying to the Wild Rift Global Championship, to get crowned as the Wild Rift World Champion.
Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022 details
In 2022, there will be a total of 8 regions, who are competing overall. These regions will build up the global competitive structure or map. Here is a table listing down the name of the regional competition name, along with their associated regions.

The regional competition will run from January to May. The winners of the regional competition will qualify for Wild Rift’s first global tournament, which is the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship. This will be held this summer in Europe.
Wild Rift Global Championship: Finals
The tournament will feature 24 teams, of whom 8 teams will qualify straight from the regional competitions. The other 16 teams have to battle each other in the play-ins stage. After the play-ins, the remaining teams will group up with the winners of the regional competition.
They would form a Group Stage, followed by a Knock-out Stage. On the day of the big finals, The champions of the first season of Wild Rift’s Esports will be crowned.
