The Pokémon Company opens pre-registration for its latest strategy game, Pokémon Champions, on iOS. First revealed in 2025 for mobile and Nintendo Switch, the game launched on Switch on April 8, 2026, and is now expected to arrive on mobile on July 17, 2026, as per the App Store’s listing. Plus, the game will also debut as the official VGC title at Worlds 2026.

So, Pokémon Champions is the latest battle-focused strategy game in the beloved IP, bringing back familiar mechanics like Pokémon types, abilities, and even powerful moves. Soon, you’ll be able to test your skills and team against Trainers worldwide in Ranked Battles, or you can chill out and enjoy the mechanics in Casual Battles.
As a longtime fan of the franchise, I can’t wait to collect beloved Pokémon like Mega Meganium, Mega Emboar, and Mega Feraligatr, who all originally appeared in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, for my team. Plus, they get never-before-seen abilities after undergoing Mega Evolution, like Mega Meganium getting the Ability Mega Sol, letting you use its moves as if the weather were harsh sunlight, or Mega Emboar’s Mold Breaker Ability, which causes its moves to be unaffected by the Ability of the target.
Overall, the game looks very promising with its vibrant visuals, diverse Pokémon, game modes like Private Battles where you can battle against your family, friends, and other Trainers, and more. Additionally, the game also lets you link to Pokémon HOME to team up with certain Pokémon like Delphox and Greninja that you’ve previously befriended.
Pokémon Champions is now open for pre-registration on iOS, and you can now pre-register for the game via the App Store. We can expect the game to release on July 17, 2026, based on the App Store’s listing.
