Boom Karts Beginners Guide and Tips

Get! Set! Vroom!

Fingersoft Games, the Finnish gaming company which came into the limelight after publishing the Hill-climb Racing franchise, has now come up with yet another arcade kart game. This free-to-play kart game, Boom Karts has an online multiplayer racing mode, guaranteed to keep you at the edge of your seats. Various beautiful locations, cartoonish characters, and animations make the game really fun and exciting to play. So, gear up and upgrade your automobile, but follow through with our Boom Karts beginners guide with some basic tips before the adrenaline rush.

Getting Started

The game starts with you choosing your own avatar to represent you in the races. In the initial stages, the game guides you to the basic whereabouts of it. There’s not much to do here except, of course, racing, upgrading your kart, unlocking new automobiles and racing locations, and lastly, having lots of fun. To be honest, the graphics and gameplay might give you similar vibes to that of the Road Rash game of the 1990s. The only exception would be the number of wheels your ride will have.

Game Modes

The game home screen shows the different game modes and also gives access to the garage.

Although the main purpose of any mode of this game would be racing in your karts, a few game modes make the game more intriguing. The available game modes include Adventure, the online Race mode, and the Custom room.

Adventure Mode

The Adventure mode brings a lot of new maps and locations for your races. The motive of the adventure mode is to complete and unlock all the available maps in the game. The maps are set in outstanding locations like the City Speedway, the Moai Mountain, the Castle Circuit, the Gold Rush, Antarctica, the Sewer, Construction circuits, etc. There are 4 kinds of tournaments/ cups to play in, in this mode.

The adventure mode brings new maps, which you may use in the league races after you unlock them by reaching new league levels.

Try to complete the 3 missions given in each race, which include either of:

  • Finish in top 3
  • Win the race
  • Do 5 drift boosts
  • Drift a certain amount of length
  • Get 5 Jump boosts
  • Collect 12 lightning bolts
  • Beat the ghost ( the ghost is a translucent figure, who appears just ahead of you in the final lap of the adventure mode races, whom you have to overtake and beat, in order to receive better prizes).

Each race will have at least 3 of these tasks to complete, the more tasks you finish, the better rewards you get. Of course, you have to win a race, to unlock the next map.

Race/League Mode

Reaching a new league unlocks a new track

The bottom right-hand corner of the home screen shows the Online Race option. The higher you finish in the race, the more trophies you will collect, and consequently, you will rise in the global ranking tier. Tiers like Bronze, Silver, Gold, Master, Elite exist in this game. Progress into each league within every tier guarantees new maps and other collectible rewards. You have to race in the tracks you have unlocked, or have used in the adventure mode, randomly.

Custom Mode

Just like any other game’s custom mode, this variant of the game allows you to join other gamers’ custom room, where they use maps and number of players according to their wish. You may also create rooms of your own, and play with your friends.

Boom Karts Beginners Guide: Tips and Tricks

Things to do outside the Race Course

The garage is the place where you upgrade your karts and change your own looks. You can use new karts only after you collect the specific number of blueprints required to unlock them. You will find these blueprints as “Chest Rewards”. For example, you can see the Buggy requires 5 blueprints to be unlocked, the Muscle requires 10, and so on.

Here are some Key Points to remember:

  • Each kart comes with a unique set of attachable accessories, which enhance the performances of those karts in the races.
  • These accessories are randomly received as gifts, as you open several chests.
  • You may use a maximum of 3 accessories at a time on a kart, which you can also upgrade in exchange for coins.
  • You can click on each accessory, for more details on it.
  • While equipping the accessories, check on the right-side bottom corner, how each accessory affects the kart’s several stats, like speed, acceleration, handling, boost.
  • Try collecting all the blueprints and necessary accessories from the chests.

Things to do inside the Race Course

Yeah, of course, you have to race there, but how to outperform other racers? The races generally start with 6 racers, except the duel races and time challenges in the adventure mode. A few talking points about the race:-

Boomkarts: Race track
  • Firstly, when the countdown to start the race begins, you can see an accelerator and another speedometer kind of stuff (named the BOOM-O-METER), tap the accelerator and set the boom-o-meter to the dark lime colour, for maximum starting boost-up. Beyond the lime is the colour red, taking your BOOM-O-METER needle to the red part would blast your Kart at the beginning, which will hinder your start.
  • The top right-hand corner shows your current position in the race and the number of laps.
  • There is an in-game emoji option, which we don’t really know who uses in between such a nail-biting race. Don’t try to do that, if you are a beginner.
  • During the race, you will find boxes placed in a row, try to collect them. Such boxes include obstacles, explosives to slow down your opponents. They may also contain power boosters, to enhance your speed.
  • As soon as you collect those items, use them, because you can’t collect more items unless you use the previous ones.
  • Try to drift and race over speed booster areas, whenever possible. Drifting and jumping boosts your speed. Hence, try drifting around the corners a much as you can.
  • Whenever an opponent tries to bump and push you, do the same.
  • Other minor tips include the kinds of stuff you do in any other racing game, like not pressing the left/right steering button too much during the bends, always trying to bend from the narrower side of the track if possible.
Make sure you follow our guide and help yourself finish there, in the middle of that podium.
