Brawl Stars has launched a new challenge event, the GRUESOME Challenge Event, featuring the exclusive GRUESOME Gus Skin as a reward. The event is currently active in the game and will run until October 31, allowing you to unlock the new skin, and if you don’t already have Gus, you will get him too.
Brawl Stars GRUESOME Challenge Event Overview
First off, this is a limited-time event with four stages to complete, offering you the chance to earn the exclusive GRUESOME Gus Skin as a reward along with the brawler Gus, if you don’t own him. It is quite similar to the Brawl Stars Cursed Challenge Event, but instead of having unlimited chances, you only have four chances to complete all the stages.
You will also need to achieve 12 wins instead of 8 to finish all the stages and claim your rewards. Keep in mind that you use gems to get additional chances if needed. To be honest, this event is more like a Pay-to-win (P2W) event.
How to complete the GRUESOME Challenge Event and get the rewards
As mentioned above, this challenge includes four stages that you must complete to earn the exclusive skin. Each stage requires three wins to progress to the next one and awards Starr drops per win. Here’s a rundown of the various stages along with tips for completing them and earning all the rewards:
GRUESOME Challenge Stage 1: GEM GRAB
GEM GRAB is a 3v3 mode where your goal is to collect Gems that spawn from the Gem Mine located in the middle of the Map. The Map for this GEM GRAB Mode is the Last Stop community map.
You can either gather Gems normally or eliminate your opponents to take the gems they are holding. Do note that you need to hold ten Gems for a set amount of time to win the game. A countdown will start once you collect 10 gems, so make sure to play defensively and protect your teammate who is holding the most amount of gems.
You can use PIPER, 8-BIT, GENE, and GUS to contest Mid and collect the gems from the Gem Mine. For laning and supporting your teammates, consider using DARRYL, SQUEAK, BUSTER, and MOE. You will get 1 Starr Drop per win in this stage.
GRUESOME Challenge Stage 2: BOUNTY
BOUNTY is a 3v3 Mode where you earn Stars for your team by defeating players of the opposing team. The Map for this BOUNTY Mode is the Hideout map. Each time you eliminate an enemy, your bounty increases by one Star, up to a maximum of seven Stars. So make sure to stay alive and do your best to avoid giving your enemies any extra Stars.
If your team collects 20 Stars first or has more Stars when the countdown ends, you will win the game. I hope this doesn’t happen to you, but in case of a tie, the team holding the Blue Stars will be declared as winner.
For this mode, consider using PIPER, GUS, and BYRON as they excel in the mid. Both GUS and PIPER are also good for laning, and you can opt for GENE and BELLE as well. LARRY & LAWRIE are best suited for the left side of the map. Choose one of the brawlers I recommended based on your team’s needs. You will get 2 Starr drops per win in this stage.
GRUESOME Challenge Stage 3: HEIST
Heist is a 3v3 Mode where you need to protect your team’s valuable safety while trying to break open the enemy team’s safe at the same time. The Map for this HEIST Mode is the Safe Zone map. You will get 3 Starr drops per win in this stage.
To win, you will need to break open the enemy safe first before the time runs out. If the countdown ends, the team that has dealt more damage to the opposing team’s safety will win the game. Focus on coordinating your attacks and make sure to protect your safe.
For this mode, consider using PIPER, COLT, BROCK, and NANI for mid-dominance. For laning and map control, try COLETTE, EVE, CHUCK, and GALE. Use GALE in the right lane and make sure to take advantage of his ultimate.
GRUESOME Challenge Stage 4: KNOCKOUT
KNOCKOUT is the final stage, featuring a 3v3 Mode, where you compete against the opposing team in a best-of-three Knockout format. The Map for this mode is the Out in the Open community map. In this mode, the first team to win two rounds wins the match.
Please note that in this mode, defeated Brawlers don’t respawn and remain out for the rest of each round. Additionally, poison clouds will gradually seep in from the edges, which deals a lot of damage to your brawler, so strategize and act quickly.
For this mode, consider using PIPER, GUS, and BYRON to battle in the center of the map. For laning and map control, try EVE, ANGELO, BROCK, and BUSTER. You will get 4 Starr drops per win in this stage.
Complete all the stages in this challenge to unlock the GRUESOME GUS skin along with the brawler. This event leans towards a P2W model, as players are facing issues teaming up with friends to complete the challenge, and you know how randoms play. If you have a good amount of Gems saved, you are good to go.
