At the time of writing, Town Hall 18 in Clash of Clans remains the ultimate TH level, offering you access to the strongest upgrades, most advanced defenses, and a lot of strategies. With its unique mechanics, including the removal of a built-in Town Hall weapon and the introduction of the Guardian System, TH18 demands a careful balance between offense, defense, and progression.
This Clash of Clans guide breaks down upgrade priorities, the best war and farming base designs, Th18 effective attack strategies, and everything else needed to make the most of Town Hall 18 in CoC.
Upgrading Town Hall to Level 18
Just like every other top-tier Town Hall upgrade, moving to Town Hall 18 is a serious commitment and is best done only after your key defenses and heroes are well-upgraded. However, TH18 introduces a major shift compared to previous levels, as the Town Hall no longer functions as a weapon at all.

Instead of housing a built-in defense, its offensive role is completely removed, and that responsibility is transferred to the new Guardian System. Upgrading to Town Hall 18 requires a fully upgraded Town Hall 17 and costs 25,000,000 Gold, with an upgrade time of 14 days.
Once completed, TH18 provides increased hit points, boosted storage capacity, and access to the latest defences, upgrades, and mechanics. You must now rely on smart Guardian placement rather than the Town Hall itself, a system that will be explained in detail later in this guide.
Clash of Clans Town Hall 18 Guide: Guide to upgrade priorities
Usually, I share a detailed, structured upgrade path, but this time, I feel it isn’t needed. At Town Hall 18, there isn’t one strict upgrade path that everyone must follow. The game is flexible at this stage, and your upgrade order should mostly depend on how you like to play.
A good general approach is to start with offense-related upgrades so you don’t fall behind in attacks. Upgrading the Hero Hall, Laboratory, Clan Castle, and Spell Factory early helps you stay effective while farming and in wars. After that, you can slowly move into key defenses like the Revenge Tower, Super Wizard Towers, and core defenses, without feeling rushed to max everything immediately.
For the rest, there’s no pressure to upgrade everything in a perfect order. You can leave some new defenses at lower levels, upgrade heroes whenever you have resources, and push walls or storages when you feel comfortable.
Town Hall 18: New Unlocked Buildings, Levels, and More
Two new buildings are unlocked with the Town Hall 18. At TH18, we gain 1x Revenge Tower and 1x Crafting Station as entirely new defensive buildings, along with 2x Super Wizard Towers through merging.
Revenge Tower
Unlocked at Town Hall 18, the Revenge Tower might be the strongest defense right now. It doesn’t attack at the start of a battle, but as more buildings go down, it slowly powers up and becomes extremely dangerous.

Each stage makes it faster and stronger, and once fully active, its shots can bounce between targets, hitting both ground and air troops hard. Since it scales during the attack, keeping it deep inside the base is usually the best way to make full use of its strength.
| Level | Max DPS | Damage (Primary) | Damage (Secondary) | Damage (Tertiary) | Hitpoints | Cost (Dark Elixir) | Upgrade Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 750 | 225 | 135 | 81 | 5,800 | 430,000 | 13 days |
| 2 | 833 | 250 | 150 | 90 | 6,200 | 460,000 | 14 days |
Crafting Station
The Crafting Station is one of the more interesting additions at TH18 because it isn’t locked to just one defense. You can switch between different crafted options like the Hero Bell, Bomb Hive, or Light Beam depending on what your base needs.

Each option plays a different role, and you can upgrade specific parts of them, such as damage or durability. Because these crafted defenses rotate every few months, the Crafting Station adds flexibility and keeps TH18 base building from feeling repetitive.
Super Wizard Tower
The Super Wizard Tower is created by merging two level 17 Wizard Towers, and once merged, there’s no going back. Instead of normal splash damage, it uses chain lightning that jumps across multiple troops, which makes it very effective against swarms and packed armies.

It also hits harder and reaches a bit farther than a regular Wizard Tower. At Town Hall 18, Super Wizard Towers work best as core defenses that help control both air and ground attacks in wars and farming bases.
Guardians
Town Hall 18 changes how defense works in a very noticeable way. The Town Hall itself no longer attacks enemies, and instead, it is protected by a Guardian that you choose. You can only equip one Guardian at a time, and this choice directly affects how your base defends against attacks.

Guardians are selected from the Town Hall menu and have their own upgrade levels that require a builder. Even if a Guardian is upgrading, it will still defend in Wars and Ranked modes, so you are not left exposed.
Both Guardians can attack ground and air troops, deal splash damage, and leave behind special effects when they are defeated. You can also see how they move and patrol around the Town Hall, which helps a lot when planning base layouts and trap placements.
Best CoC Town Hall 18 best attack strategies
At Town Hall 18, you can use a mix of air, ground, and hybrid attack strategies depending on the base layout and your goal. For war attacks, popular options include Dragon-based armies combined with Totem Spells, Meteor Golem pushes supported by a Queen Walk, and Super Yeti compositions as well.
For farming, you can switch to simpler setups. Sneaky Goblin farming remains one of the safest ways to grab large amounts of loot, while Mass Valkyrie with Earthquake Spells is commonly used to secure quick percentage and league bonuses. If you prefer air attacks, Air Trio farming using Dragon Riders, Balloons, and Electro Dragons is another solid option.
I’ve put together a dedicated Town Hall 18 attack strategies guide where I explain these armies in detail, including how to use them step by step and when to pick each one, so you can check it out.

For the best bases, I’ve given a few examples for both Farming and War. For more base collections, I’ve created a separate, dedicated Town Hall 18 base guide that covers the best war, farming, and hybrid layouts, so my suggestion is to check them out.
