Step-by-Step guide to change your in-game username in Destiny: Rising

When you dive into a new game, your excitement often outweighs the need for a thoughtful username. It’s a common story, where you start with something temporary and then regret it once you’re fully immersed. Luckily, Destiny: Rising gives you a straightforward way to fix that with the Rename Card. Let’s go over how it works.

How to change your username in Destiny: Rising

Here’s the exact process to rename your Guardian in Destiny: Rising:

  • Open Destiny: Rising on your device and log in.
  • From the main screen, look for the Store button at the top of your screen. Tap it to access in-game purchases.
  • Inside the store, scroll through the tabs until you reach Bundles. The Silver Shop should appear alongside other bundles such as the Journey Bundle and the Lumia Leaf Shop.

  • The Rename Card is the only way to change your in-game username. It costs 300 Silver, which is Destiny: Rising’s premium currency. This means you’ll need to top up with real money if you don’t already have Silver in your account. But luckily, your first name change is free.
  • Once you’ve bought the Rename Card, head to the homepage by clicking the wolf icon at the top of your screen in the ghost menu. You’ll see your current username displayed alongside your Guardian’s icon and stats.

  • Next, tap the gear and mask icon on the right side of the screen, then click on change name.
  • Enter your new desired name, and type carefully, cause this will be your new public identity in Destiny: Rising.
  • Confirm your choice.

Tips to remember while changing your username in Destiny: Rising

Before you rush to spend 300 Silver and rebrand your Guardian, keep these important things in mind:

1. Firstly, you will need a Rename Card

Destiny: Rising doesn’t allow free name changes through settings or by contacting support. The only official way is to buy a Rename Card. Plan accordingly and make sure you’re happy with your choice before committing.

2. Think before you type

Because Rename Cards cost premium currency, you don’t want to waste one on a rushed name. Take time to brainstorm a username that matches your personality, clan identity, or playstyle.

3. Follow the community guidelines

Like most online games, Destiny: Rising won’t let you use offensive, inappropriate, or impersonating usernames. If your chosen name breaks the rules, you’ll either be blocked from confirming it or risk being reported later. Stick to creative, clean names to avoid issues.

4. You can only rename occasionally

While the Rename Card doesn’t specify a strict cooldown, games in the Destiny franchise usually limit name changes to prevent abuse. Expect to wait a set period (often 48 hours) before you can change it again. Use your Rename Card wisely.

5. Silver costs real money

The Rename Card’s cost of 300 Silver ties directly to premium currency, meaning you’ll need to purchase Silver if you don’t already have it. Depending on your region, this usually translates to a few dollars. Keep this in mind if you’re on a budget.
