Diablo Immortal, an AAA title by Blizzard Entertainment and NetEase Games revealed at BlizzCon 2018 as a mobile-only game finally released on June 2, 2022, after several delays. The MMOARPG game faced a lot of backlash from fans as they expected the announcement of Diablo 4 and were annoyed by the fact that Diablo Immortal was going to be a mobile exclusive game. Later in April 2022, Activision Blizzard announced that Diablo Immortal will also be coming to PC in addition to Android and iOS. Diablo Immortal: PC Controls Configuration and Setup
Since Diablo Immortal was going to be mobile exclusive, the controls, and HUD, interfaces were created for mobile devices. While the HUD and interface will be scaled according to the screen size, the control schemes have been translated directly from the mobile version.
The finger tapping and swiping controls are bound to the mouse and keyboard setup. The interaction remains similar to previous Diablo titles wherein mouse clicks will control the character’s movement and attacks, while keys will help to perform abilities and drink potions.
Additionally, a new control scheme is being added to the game which was not part of the previous titles of the Diablo series. Players can opt to use WASD directional controls for movement as opposed to mouse clicks. The developers feel that it is an intuitive way to move your character around, instead of relentlessly left-clicking for both moving and attacking. Moreover, moving while attacking simultaneously, such as with certain charged abilities, is native to the game on mobile and the developers want gamers to be able to do so which a simple mouse control scheme would not have allowed.
Fergusson says the Diablo Immortal team is going to be paying close attention to PC players’ response to the control scheme as the open beta goes live. But in addition to the traditional mouse-driven interface, Diablo games have used for decades, Immortal is throwing in some additional options for PC players. Players can also change key bindings according to their liking if they are not comfortable with the default option. Lastly, Diablo Immortal will also have support for controllers.
