eFootball 2023: Show Time player cards review

New skills, new player types!

eFootball 2023 has been introducing a lot of cards in the game recently, which has further raised the interest level of the players. This is mainly due to the new card types, and not to forget, the lucrative designs these cards are having. One would wonder what these players offer, but it is no doubt in knowing if any player is behind a paywall, then surely there must be something special in them. One such player card type that has made headlines is Show Time in eFootball 2023.

Show Time cards offer a distinct skill that these cards only possess, and will also have an effect on the team as well. So, in this guide, we shall look into the cards available, and review them while allocating the progression points.

As explained above, these cards will be featuring one special skill for every distinct card. As per the announcement, there are four different Show Time Skills: Fortress, Phenomenal Finishing, Momentum Dribbling, and Game-Changing Pass.

In this review, the players will be categorized according to their Show Time skills.

Fortress

A mainly defense-attributed skill, Fortress allows the defending much more enhanced, and keeps a more structured defensive line with an improvement in defending abilities. However, this will be as long as you are at a goal advantage.

Neymar Jr.

  • Position: Second Striker (SS)
  • Playing Style: Creative Playmaker

Player Overview

To be very fair, this version of Neymar doesn’t really have worldly stats when we compare this version to his POTW one. However, there are no doubts raised about his performance on the pitch, and is on par with the best dribblers in the game.

The balance and first-touch control are the best traits in this Neymar version. Although, there are still confusions why Fortress skill is there for the guy when we see his defensive stats have not changed one bit. For a free player, this card is a deal for sure.

Player Build

Neymar excels at AMF, so build him giving emphasis on his Dexterity and Dribbling attributes to avoid defenders and move forward.

Thiago Silva

  • Position: Centre-back (CB)
  • Playing Style: The Destroyer

Player Overview

Silva’s reading of the game makes him one of the best defenders in the game. The judgment to rush to loose balls on the pitch and aggressive tackling is an absolute delight on the pitch. Those defensive stats are ridiculous, and those performances are too.

Thiago Silva

Silva is an aging player, so if you are having a high defensive line, he is no match for the pace upfront, so covering is really necessary. Even if his being a Destroyer might leave a space behind while defending, it is better to aggressively press as the guy doesn’t lose 1v1s at all.

Player Build

Auto build from the system provides a well-balanced build for Thiago Silva. However, getting a more aggressive build would be great for a Destroyer playstyle.

Virgil Van Dijk

  • Position: Centre-back (CB)
  • Playing Style: Build Up

Player Overview

Van Dijk is often credited as one of the best defenders in the game, and his Show Time version adds more weight to that conversation. Defensively, this is his best card although when we compare this for all-round stats, his Liverpool version gets an edge.

His Build Up playstyle allows you to control most of the match, and his defensive awareness is something that you should appreciate very much. Almost loses no headers so this avoids scenarios like the freak corners you concede. Overall, a near-perfect defender.

Player Build

Heading and Defensive attributes need a stronger point allocation.

Eder Militao

  • Position: Centre-back (CB)
  • Playing Style: Build Up

Player Overview

Eder went under the bar for being with two PL greats but this card is fire. He is more balanced than the other two defenders, and his speed and agility are some great traits he has that make a difference on the pitch.

Éder Militão

He’s very aggressive for a Build Up defender, and you can see it when he’s moving forward. Physicality is underrated in real-life, but there are some instances where he might fail in a physical battle. His covering of space is excellent and thus makes him the one to watch out for.

Player Build

The Speed he has that comes with great Defending makes him special, so allot points accordingly.

Phenomenal Finishing

This skill, which targets the finishing stat, allows players to attempt shots from unusual locations with greater power and precision than usual. So, if you are not in the right balance while striking the ball, the shots will still hit as desired, even though they will not be as flawless as shooting from a correct stature.

Erling Haaland

  • Position: Center Forward (CF)
  • Playing Style: Fox in the Box

Player Overview

There shouldn’t be any discussions on how this man is. Every card that releases becomes better than the other, and his Show Time cards add another dimension to the existing card. His Finishing and Physicality are just out of the box, it feels like he’s just the perfect striker.

His awareness is really good, but that might be spoiled by a poor first touch. So taking shots the first time would be a better solution. His low balance doesn’t spoil the fun, and if you are having creative wingers and midfielders to feed for the man upfront, there is no better choice than Haaland.

Player Build

The suggested build for Haaland would be fine, can push for more Finishing though.

Harry Kane

  • Position: Center Forward (CF)
  • Playing Style: Deep-Lying Forward

Player Overview

Yet another great pick who has the Phenomenal Finishing skill, Harry Kane isn’t your typical poacher. His ability to create good plays and chances is utilized perfectly with his playstyle, which might trouble some players who are not familiar with this.

H. Kane

Kane mostly probably has the most balanced stats among all strikers and is good on Air too. His Finishing sometimes is let down by the lack of a First-time Shot skill like the other two strikers mentioned, so train him using the Skill Training Program. One of the best all-around strikers? Yes.

Player Build

Keep a balanced build.

Victor Oshimen

  • Position: Center Forward (CF)
  • Playing Style: Goal Poacher

Player Overview

Oshimen has been on the rise following a spectacular season for Napoli, and this card might be even more lethal considering the stats. A dream for Quick Counter enthusiasts as this pace with the awareness he has, automatically makes him a great fit.

V. Osimhen

Even with Phenomenal FInishing, his shots from distance are pretty poor. So try to get into the box for more accuracy. His Heading is pretty decent with good physicality, so if you are looking to cross it in, don’t hesitate.

Player Build

Awareness and Finishing need to be taken care of for a Poacher, so follow the same.

Momentum Dribbling

This skill will be targeting the improvement of the dribbling stat and improves the player’s dribbling abilities in the attacking third. This allows more close control over the ball while allowing more efficient skill move application.

Vinicius Junior

  • Position: Left Wing Forward (LWF)
  • Playing Style: Roaming Flank

Player Overview

Vinicius is a great explosive winger already in the game, who will get more recognition now thanks to his spectrally designed Show Time card of his. He already is a phenomenal dribbler, and now, it just makes him buffed in-game in that aspect.

Vinícius Júnior

He is more of a creative winger still, but other than Through Passing, he doesn’t feel to be very good in that regard. Vini’s finishing is good, and he’s speedy out wide. His one flaw if he had to point out is that when he’s in the opposing team’s squad, which gets a little rough to handle.

Player Build

More emphasis on Dribbling and Shooting to get the best use of him.

Riyad Mahrez

  • Position: Right Wing Foward (RWF)
  • Playing Style: Prolific Winger

Player Overview

Riyad “Consistent” Mahrez isn’t someone who gets played in the best squads, and cards like these will make people think that they are missing out. He is one of the best dribbles in eFootball hands down, and you might know this even if you have played with his normal version.

R. Mahrez

Decent finishing, a good pace, and a decent pass, he is also a master of skills. Surprisingly, even if he shares a similar stat rating for Physicality with the other two, he is way better on the pitch and can shield the ball pretty well.

Player Build

A normal build suggested in the game would be fine for Mahrez.

Kaoru Mitoma

  • Position: Left Midfielder (LMF)
  • Playing Style: Prolific Winger

Player Overview

Mitoma plays wide midfield for Brighton, who is getting recognition for his good dribbling and consistent performance. This card is out of the blue as many didn’t expect, but the Japanese winger is a great choice even with his stats considered.

K. Mitoma
Image via KONAMI

His stats are well-balanced and mostly reflected as a creative winger with an explosive touch. His dribbling is super smooth and has a great pace. However, he often gets bullied even by average midfielders as his physicality isn’t high. However, there is no denying that he’s a starter material.

Player Build

His playstyle doesn’t trigger at LMF, so keep the build preferences for a winger.
