Unlock the full potential of Fox in the Box

Story Highlights
  • Fox in the Box is one of the most interesting playstyles in the game
  • Let us help you use them to their maximum potential with the help of this guide!

eFootball is one of the most realistic football games available on any platform, and one of the premier ways they achieve this feeling of simulation is through playstyles. Different playstyles drastically alter how the player AI behaves with or without the ball; thus, some playstyles are naturally easier to pick up than others, and this distinction creates a gulf in the volume of usage among said playstyles.

Fox in the Box is one such playstyle that introduces a bit of a learning curve to use the cards to their full potential. This is precisely why, in this playstyle guide, I will analyse the Fox in the Box playstyle and how to unlock its full potential in eFootball 2026.

Player profiles of FITB cards in eFootball 2026

As with any other playstyle in this game, the myriad of cards available in a playstyle creates a variety of player profiles based on their height, weight, stats, and, in rare cases, their unique behaviour. We can categorise Fox in the Box into the following categories based on various attributes.

  • Physically dominating FITB
  • Short and nimble FITB
  • The curious special case

1. Physically dominating Fox in the Box

These are the most numerous FITBs in the game: players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Haaland, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Sorloth, Thuram, and Marco Van Basten fall into this category.

They are very strong and tall players with little to spare on ball treatment stats and are often dominating in the air, but have only passable to decent speed and acceleration stats. These players are masters of shield-up play and are best paired with a faster attacker to take advantage of the space created by these absolute goliaths.

2. Short and nimble Fox in the Box

These are a bit more interesting in terms of profile; they are Fox in the Box players with short height, weak physical contact, and very good ball treatment stats, and bursting pace, all that paired with high balance and lower centre of gravity means these players can move in the box at will and break the pressure.

Players like Romario, Bebeto, and Puskas are the best examples of this profile. These players always manage to beat the press to turn towards the goal and are best paired with taller but slower CFs.

3. The curious special case

This is by far the most interesting example we have stumbled upon while researching the Fox in the Box playstyle. Notice how the title suggests a special case rather than cases. Yes, this entire profile for now consists of one player, the recently released Gerd Müller.

Muller is short yet physically strong, with aerially dominating stats that translate to the field, great ball treatment, and exceptional attacking awareness. This set of very special skills makes him a lethal weapon with unmatched positioning, shield-up play, and shooting, without being heavy or clunky to dribble with, truly a remarkable and unique profile for Fox in the Box playstyle.

Analysis of FITB AI behaviour

Fox in the Box is one of the most AI-dependent playstyles for CF, as the X factor for FITBs comes from off-ball movements of the players. FITBs are very different from the typical goal poachers, as they don’t always look for a passing opportunity to make runs towards the goal; they read the game and drop when required to help in the build-up play and help you create a midfield overload with an extra passing option.

Once the buildup play is on, and the team pushes towards the goal, FITBs make a delayed run to swindle the defenders and easily create space for shooting, and with their high shooting stats, this becomes a certain top corner goal most of the time.

Another interesting feature of FITBs is that they often back themselves up from the defence line to make them more available as a passing option, which might break the counter-attacking speed, but this move often occupies the defenders and makes space for the other attackers to get through on goal easily.

Team compositions for Fox in the Box in eFootball 2026

This is one of the aspects that make or break Fox in the Box playstyle for players; FITBs cannot function without a proper team composition to support the playstyle. Though it might seem like too much to build a team around a single playstyle, this step makes the FITBs absolutely unstoppable goal machines.

Fox in the Box players need at least two other players available centrally to enable them to freely move into pockets of spaces. These two players could be Hole Players or Goal Poachers; their main purpose is to serve as a secondary vessel for the attack. They make runs to accommodate the shield-up play of the FITBs, and to provide decoys for the defenders and create space for the late-running FITBs.

One more aspect that should be kept in mind when building a team around an FITB is that every player available around FITB should have at the very least decent passing (75+) to be able to reach the FITB in the box to take full advantage of the subtle in-the-box movements. If possible, also equip these players with passing skills like One-Touch Pass and Through Passing. This also ensures that no movement from FITBs is wasted because of obvious passing errors.

Fox in the Fox in eFootball 2026: A fun yet competitive playstyle

In a game currently full of meta squads, similars teams and similar playstyles it’s a breath of fresh air to try out something new and rekindle the lost novelty and fun of strategising to build a team, and to make such a team viable for competitive gaming or rank push would be a well appriciated cherry on top, thus we recommend you to check out this playstyle to shake up the monotony by trying out this playstyle with intrucstions from this guide and maybe even find your new favourite playstyle in the process.
