FPL 2021/22 Double Gameweek 37 Free Hit Guide: Best players for the double gameweek

Players who can bring some extra FPL points for the next gameweek

We’re now looking forward to the penultimate gameweek of the season. Teams have less than a handful of opportunities to climb towards their desired table positions. For FPL fans, it’s a similar case. All it takes is one week to ruin a season’s worth of progress, so no rank is set in stone just yet. Those that have prepared well for this stage may have a Free Hit still lying about. DGW37 is the best remaining opportunity to activate the chip, with 5 teams playing twice. Therefore, we have compiled an article on the FPL 2021/22 Double Gameweek 37 Free Hit guide. In this article, we have picked out a squad of 15 players covering all the teams to target, which can maximize your points total for this gameweek.

FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 37 Free Hit Team: Goalkeepers

Jordan Pickford (4.8 million)

Goalkeeper

Everton will need all the points they can get to secure a place in the next Premier League season, and they’re on good form at the moment. Pickford is a decent-priced keeper to own for GW37. Although clean sheets have been slightly rare for the Englishman, he has still racked up some decent save points and bonus points. Everton’s 2 home fixtures against Brentford and Crystal Palace are good opportunities for Pickford to continue adding to his totals.

Alternatives

  • Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa) – 5.5 million
  • Vicente Guaita (Crystal Palace) – 4.6 million
  • Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester City) – 5.0 million

FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 37 Free Hit Team: Defenders

1. Trent Alexander-Arnold (8.4 million)

The 23-year-old was rested in GW35, so he should go on to start in GW35. Liverpool has a very good fixture against Southampton, in which Trent is expected to make a strong impact.

2. Matthew Cash (5.3 million)

Aston Villa has been pretty solid at the back this season. They’ve kept 11 clean sheets and conceded an xGC of 46.1 this season, both stats ranking 6th and 7th respectively. Their defensive form recently has been especially noteworthy, with the side conceding just 1 goal in the last 3 matches. Obviously, Cash has gone past that random burst-on form back in GW28, but nonetheless, he still gets forward often and carries decent attacking potential.

FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 37 Free Hit: Defenders

3. Nathaniel Clyne (4.3 million)

Vieira‘s men have been very strong in defense of this campaign. They rank 4th across the whole season for the lowest xGC conceded. Clyne is a very good budget pick to own going into GW37, as Palace faces away trips to Aston Villa and Everton. Since game-week 28, Clyne has played the full 90 every match and has only blanked twice in that 8-game period, averaging 5.1 points per game.

Alternatives

  • Joao Cancelo (Manchester City) – 7.2 million
  • Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea) – 6.1 million
  • Lucas Digne (Aston Villa) – 5.0 million
  • Vitalii Mykolenko (Everton) – 4.9 million
  • Connor Roberts (Burnley) – 4.4 million

FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 37 Free Hit Team: Midfielders

1. Mohammed Salah (13.3 million)

Salah faces a leaky Southampton side in GW37. The Saints rank 18th for xGC all season, and rock-bottom for Big Chances Conceded (92) – that averages to 2.6 per game. The Egyptian will be a key player to look at ahead of the weekend.

2. Heung-Min Son (11.0 million)

In his last 7 matches, Son has registered 4 double-digit hauls, including 9 goals and 2 assists. He is in incredible form right now, and Spurs’ fixture against Burnley in GW37 is another opportunity for the winger to add to his totals.

3. Kevin De Bruyne (11.9 million)

Other than the rest of GW35, De Bruyne has gone 5 games without blanking in the league. City’s GW37 fixture against West Ham (A) will be a tough one, but Guardiola will need to make sure they secure the league title, and this will likely go on until the last day. De Bruyne is expected to start, and his influence on the pitch is unquestionable.

FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 37 Free Hit: Midfielders

4. Wilfried Zaha (6.9 million)

Since GW26, Zaha has put up some very impressive underlying numbers. He ranks 3rd for xG in that period and has managed 16 shots on target, which ranks 2nd amongst all midfielders. Palace has a decent set of double game-week fixtures as well. To top it all off, Zaha is tasked with penalty duty, and he’s already bagged 2 goals (out of 4) that way in the last 5 matches.

5. Anthony Gordon (4.7 million)

Gordon is a great budget enabler who also plays a very attacking role for Everton. Everton offers a good set of double fixtures, so Gordon is not a bad choice to start in this Free Hit draft. The youngster has team-leading totals for key passes (8) and big chances created (2). He also ranks 2nd for touches in the opposition box (19), only 3 behind Richarlison.

Alternatives

  • James Maddison (Leicester) – 6.9 million
  • Philippe Coutinho (Aston Villa) – 7.1 million
  • Dejan Kulusevski (Tottenham) – 6.3 million
  • Luis Diaz (Liverpool) – 8.0 million
  • Phil Foden (Manchester City) – 7.9 million

FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 37 Free Hit Team: Forwards

1. Richarlison (7.5 million)

Everton‘s sole talisman right now is Richarlison, and it is very evident from the numbers he has been putting up. Since GW31, the Brazilian has been involved in 6 out of the 8 goals Everton has scored as a whole. In that period, Richarlison has ranked top amongst his teammates for shots (26 – twice as many as 2nd) and shots on target (11 – almost 4 times as many as 2nd). Out of Everton’s 9 big chances in the last seven games, Richarlison has been at the end of 6 of them. Clearly, he is the sole focus of Lampard’s attacking tactics.

Forwards

2. Ollie Watkins (7.5 milion)

Aston Villa seems to have found their goalscoring form again, netting 5 times in the last two games. Prior to that, they had managed just 1 goal in four. In that 6-game period, Ollie Watkins has arguably been the team’s best-attacking player. He ranks top amongst his teammates for shots (20), shots on target (8), big chances (4), and touches in the opposition box (48).

Alternatives

  • Harry Kane (Tottenham) – 12.4 million
  • Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City) – 7.0 million
  • Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City) – 8.6 million

FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 37 Free Hit: Bench

Goalkeeper – Arthur Okonkwo (3.9 million)

Any budget keeper will do, as the first-choice (Pickford) is not expected to be rotated.

FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 37 Free Hit: Bench Options

1st Option – Connor Roberts (4.4 million)

The draft above leaves a slot for 1 bench player to cover, and Roberts is a good budget pick for that purpose. Burnley plays twice in GW37 and they’re still not fully safe from relegation yet.

The 2nd and 3rd sub can both be budget enablers.

FPFPL Double Gameweek 33 Free Hit Team: Tips and Strategy

Heung-Min Son takes the captain’s armband, based on his recent performances. Salah and De Bruyne are both decent shouts as well. It’s probably not a good idea to go for a differential captain unless you’re seriously chasing rank. Possible options could be any one of the 2 strikers, or potentially Zaha as well.
