FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 6 Differentials: 5 Fantasy Players that can help boost your rank

It's easy to pick the big players, but who are some of the lesser know potential stars of the competition?

The Premier League season is now underway, and as is the FPL campaign running alongside. As you begin building your first teams, there will, of course, be a lot of different factors to consider – from fixtures to pre-season form, to the chances of even starting. However, one key, almost underlying, factor is player ownership. Most regular hitters in FPL will be owned by a lot of players, and remember, Fantasy Football is all about doing better than your opponents. That would be very difficult to do if you carry a lot of the same players to each other. That’s where the differentials come in. These differentials are the uncommon players which tend to go under the radar, but can still have the potential to score tidy points. It’s a good idea to have a couple of these differentials as they can really give a strong edge over your opponents, and a return from them can really help you with the advantage. Here is a list of FPL Fantasy PL 2021/22 Differentials that can bolster your squads ahead of gameweek 6.

FPL Fantasy 2021/22 Gameweek 6 Differentials

1. Takehiro Tomiyasu (Defender) – 4.5 million

It comes with no surprise that deadline day signing, Tomiyasu, has definitely made some kind of impact on the Arsenal side. The team that conceded 9 goals in the first 3 games is currently on a run of 2 clean sheets against Norwich and Burnley, starting from when Tomiyasu first made the starting XI. It could just be a coincidence, or the club taking advantage of the smooth run of fixtures, however, the twist in results shouldn’t really go unnoticed.

The next fixture is, of course, the North London Derby against Spurs, a team that has had a dip in form recently, losing 3-0 to both Chelsea and Crystal Palace. It remains to be seen whether or not the continued dip in form continues, although Arsenal still holds a respectable 36% chance of a clean sheet. With the ownership of 1.4%, Tomiyasu could be a huge differential, offering the luxury of some winnable fixtures after the Noth-London-Derby too.

2. Harvey Barnes (Midfielder) – 6.8 million

Barnes has had a slow start to the FPL campaign, hitting no more than 3 points ever since the start of GW1. However, it seems as though the English youngster is starting to pick up the form, after recording 1G/1A in the midweek fixture against Napoli in the Europa League. Furthermore, those performances have started to structure a slight pattern, Barnes seems to perform much better at home than at away. Last season, Barnes was involved in 56% of the team’s goals at home, the most in the team, which is more than double the 25% involvement in away games. Fortunately, Leicester plays at King Power Stadium in GW6!

The opponent is Burnley, a team that is yet to keep a clean sheet yet this season, conceding 12 big chances and 25 shots on target, both in the bottom 5 of all other FPL teams. On top of that, Barnes has a good history with Burnley. In the last 2 games against the Clarets, Barnes achieved a total of 24 points from 1G/3A, with double numbers in both games.

3. Jarrod Bowen (Midfielder) – 6.3 million

While West Ham has proven themselves to be very appealing contenders to FPL managers, Bowen hasn’t been one of those popular picks. Despite that, the numbers still look promising, especially for someone with an ownership of just 0.8%. Bowen averages 2.4 key passes per game and has already missed 2 big chances too.

Although the latter is not necessarily a good thing, it shows he is getting in the right position, and so a goal should be on the way sooner or later. The last game against Manchester United saw Bowen get his first return in the form of an assist too. The next opposition, Leeds, are a team that only sits behind Newcastle for the worst defense in the league, West Ham has a decent level of threat in this one.

4. Mohamed Elyounoussi (Midfielder) – 5.5 million

Elyounoussi is one of the upcoming underrated stars of FPL, who hasn’t started the first 2 games of the season, yet still has very good underlying numbers under his belt. He has totaled 14 points, including the 1 goal from GW3, as well as being very easy to pick up at 5.5m million with an ownership of just 0.1%.

Furthermore, Elyounoussi averages 4.67 touches in the opposition box, and 0.8 key passes, and 1 shot on goal per game. Southampton‘s good fixture list runs all the way up to GW12, with Wolves, Leeds, Burnley, Watford, Villa, and Norwich, with Chelsea being the only major obstacle in GW7. At such a low price and ownership, he can be a tremendous differential in long term to fill in that last midfielder slot.

5. Leandro Trossard (Midfielder) – 6.4 million

Brighton has been on surprisingly brilliant form recently, sitting 4th on the table with 12 points. It is expected to continue in the coming weeks, and can definitely do, with the Seagulls facing Crystal Palace, Arsenal, and Norwich in the next 3 games. One of the stars of the side is Belgium winger, Leandro Trossard, who has featured in every game since the start of the season and has risen in the form in the last 2 games too.

Trossard scored the winning goal in the 1-0 win against Brentford, totaling 11 points, and assisted another 1 against Leicester to give an extra 5 points. Crystal Palace is the opponent for Brighton and the Seagulls have looked pretty good all-round, although they have conceded an average of 1.6 goals per game.
