It's easy to pick the big players, but who are some of the lesser know potential stars of the competition!

The Premier League is back in action after weeks of international football and FA cup action. The chaos of COVID postponements seems to now be settling, with the Premier League board introducing revamped guidelines. Canceled games will now, fortunately, be much more uncommon, minimizing the concept of games-in-hand, which have been annoyingly skewing the Premier League table. Here, we have compiled a list of 5 FPL differentials for gameweek 25, 2021/22, who can help to boost your rank.

It’s gearing up to be a high-tempo end to the season, with all those postponed fixtures gradually being rescheduled into the coming gameweeks. For FPL fans, that’s more double gameweeks just around the corner, and some have already been announced too! The GW 25 deadline being 12th Februaryā€™s 11:00 AM GMT, we are approaching the dreaded time of decision-making. To help out, we have produced yet another guide on some useful differential picks to pay attention to. These guys are rare selections in the FPL player-base and are incredibly risky to go for. However, the pay-out can sometimes be huge, so it is a good idea to invest in a couple.

GW25 offers a medley of double and single match schedules for the PL teams. Brighton (vs Watford) and Manchester United (vs Southampton) will both enjoy a double gameweek, with their 2nd fixture being against each other. On the other side, Arsenal and Chelsea will be sitting this one out with a blank gameweek.

1. Diogo Dalot (Defender) – 4.6 million

Diogo Dalot has quickly become the preferred outlet at RB under Ralf Rangnick, replacing Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Although yet to register a goal or assist since his first full 90 back in GW14, the Portuguese man definitely looks to be on the right track. His 6 key passes in the last 5 gameweeks are bettered by just Luke Shaw and Bruno Fernandes at the club, contributing to a total expected assists value of 0.25.

In addition, Dalot’s 4 successful crosses are the 2nd most amongst his teammates, behind Bruno Fernandes (6). The 23-year-old has totaled the third-most points in the FPL Bonus Points System as well. To top it all off, the bookies have predicted a respectable 6.7 points for Dalot in GW25.

Manchester United is expected to hold strong defensively in GW25, despite their poor performances recently. They are sitting at a 44% chance for a clean sheet against both Southampton and Brighton.

2. Marc Cucurella (Defender) – 5.1 million

Brighton is the other team that doubles in gameweek 25, and it is tempting to dip into some of their assets. The defense has especially stood out, ranking in the top half for shots conceded (6th), big chances conceded (4th) and goals conceded (6th). All those stats were taken on a per-game ratio, over the last 10 gameweeks. Probably the best pick from the Seagulls’ defense is Marc Cucurella, who signed for the side back in the Summer last year.

Whilst also claiming points from the defense, Cucurella offers attacking potential as well. He has created 26 chances all season so far, including 2 big chances, ranking as the 3rd best amongst all his teammates. He has underperformed his xA so far, totaling just 1 assist from an xA of 1.74. To top it all off, the Spaniard is predicted a solid 6.7 points in GW25.

The fixture against Watford is the ideal one to look forward to with Brighton defenders. The newly-promoted side has really struggled to put the ball in the net in recent weeks. They have failed to score in their last 3 league games and managed just 1 shot on target last time out against West Ham. In addition, Brighton will enjoy a decent run of fixtures following DGW25, facing Burnley, Villa, and Newcastle in the next 3 gameweeks.

3. Anthony Elanga (Midfielder) – 4.8 million

Manchester United is short on wingers at the moment, due to the lack of form in the available ones, in addition to the Mason Greenwood suspension. The limited options paved the way for youth academy prospect Anthony Elanga to break into the first team. He has started 3 of the games since his first start in GW22 and has introduced a new dynamic to the club’s football.

His 6 shots in the box is a tally bettered by only Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United and ranks 5th amongst all FPL assets. Elanga’s 14 touches in the opposition box is also a team-leading total, alongside Ronaldo as well. In DGW26, the bookies have predicted a 56% chance at a return under Elanga’s name, assuming he plays 90 minutes. For such a cheap price of 4.8 million, Elanga could be a great way to benefit from the United attack without much sacrifice.

Elanga came off the bench in the last game against Burnley and could be a starter in the next fixtures as well, in an attempt to rotate the wingers. Manchester United faces Southampton and Brighton, both at home. These could be good opportunities for the Red Devils to find the form to fuel their top 4 charges towards the ending stages of the season.

4. Wilfried Zaha (Midfielder) – 6.8 million

Zaha is back in the first team for Crystal Palace, following his time out in the 4 matches before GW24, where he played a grand total of 0 minutes. He had a rollercoaster of a game against Norwich last time out but managed to come away with a 6 points total. Zaha marked his return to the squad with a breath-taking strike from long-range to equalize but then failed to win back the lead after dragging a penalty wide.

Still, the points deduction was not too hefty, and Zaha even managed 1 bonus point as well. Overall, the Ivorian had a good game, totaling 4 shots including 3 in the box – the most out of all his teammates. Throughout the season, Zaha has been an impactful member of the team, with 6 goals and 1 assist. He has predicted a reputable 4.6 points in GW25 as well.

The opponents for Palace will be Brentford, and although they will be playing away this week, this is a good opportunity for Viera‘s men to go for 3 points. The Bees have struggled a lot trying to keep the ball out of their net in recent weeks. They rank rock bottom for xGC amongst all teams in the last 5 gameweeks, and have also conceded the most goals per game in that time as well (2.29).

5. Neal Maupay (Forward) – 6.5 million

Maupay is Brighton’s top scorer this season, with 7 goals, and an additional 3 assists to his name. He has always been a key Focal point for the team’s attack, coming out as the club’s top scorer for the past 2 seasons as well. His goal involvement of 48% is the highest amongst any teammate, and he also has the most FPL points in the team as well (79).

The Frenchman has had 26 shots in the box, 11 shots on target, and 80 touched in the opposition box, which are all 2nd best at Brighton, behind Leandro Trossard. Furthermore, Maupay has had 9 big chances, as well as created 3 big chances this season which are team-leading totals. He is expected to perform in the next gameweek, and is predicted 9.3 points in total – the 2nd highest amongst all forwards.

The defenses Maupay will face in the coming weeks have been quite weak this season. Brighton takes on Watford and Manchester United, both as away trips. The Watford defense has been one of the worst in the league, they rank 17th for xGC in the league and have averaged 1.86 goals conceded per game this season. Manchester United has also been leaky at the back, ranking 13th for xGC all season. They’ve only managed 5 clean sheets out of 23 games this season, conceding an average of 1.35 goals per game.
