How does the limited-character banner work
First of all, we need to understand how the limited-character banner works. There can be multiple limited-character banners running simultaneously and they share the same pity count. When you obtain a 5* character, it has a 50% chance of being the promotional character and a 50% chance of being a standard banner character.
This is called “winning or losing the 50/50” since the chance is 50%. If you lose the 50/50 once, the next time you get a 5* character, it will be the promotional one. If you get a 5* character from this guarantee after losing 50/50 once, the next time you get a 5* character, you will have to face the 50/50 chance again. How does the Capturing Radiance mechanic affect the limited character banner
When you lose a 50/50, there is a 10% chance for Capturing Radiance to trigger, and you will get the promotional character. This is considered as “50/50 won” by the game and the next time you get a 5* character, you will have to face the 50/50 chance again. Essentially you get a second chance at getting the promotional character after losing once.
Capturing Radiance only has a 10% chance of triggering every time you lose a 50/50. If it does not trigger then it means you have lost your second chance. Capturing Radiance gives you a second chance at obtaining the promotional character, effectively making the chance 55% instead of 50%. An increased chance of getting the desired character is always welcome. Losing 50/50 is not the end, now there will always be another small chance of undoing the damage.
