Genshin Impact Version 4.4 debuts another yearly Liyue character in the seasonal Lantern Rite event, the new 4-star Gaming (Pyro/Claymore). This guide will explain everything about how to build Gaming and play him in his best teams in Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact Gaming Guide: Abilities description
Talent upgrade priority
All of his Talents contribute to his damage but essentially you would want to prioritize Gaming’s Elemental Skill the most followed by his Elemental Burst close seconds.
Elemental Skill > Elemental Burst > Normal Attack
Normal Attack: Stellar Rend
Normal Attack
Performs up to 4 consecutive strikes.
Charged Attack
Drains Stamina over time to perform continuous spinning attacks against all nearby opponents.
At the end of the sequence, performs a more powerful slash.
Plunging Attack
Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.
Elemental Skill: Bestial Ascent
Pounces forward using the Wushou arts, leaping high into the air after coming into contact with a target or surface. After Gaming has used Bestial Ascent to rise into the air, he will use the especially powerful Plunging Attack: Charmed Cloudstrider when performing a Plunging Attack.
Plunging Attack: Charmed Cloudstrider
The DMG from Plunging Attacks caused by Bestial Ascent is converted to Pyro DMG that cannot be overridden by other elemental infusions. Upon landing, Gaming will consume a fixed amount of HP. Gaming’s HP cannot be reduced below 10% by this method.
Charmed Cloudstrider DMG is considered Plunging Attack DMG.
Elemental Burst: As the Sunlit Sky’s Singing Salute
Gaming enters Wushou Stance, briefly applying Pyro to him, recovering a fixed amount of HP, and summons his companion, the Suanni Man Chai, to smash into his target, dealing AoE Pyro DMG.
After bashing its target, Man Chai will roll to a nearby location before moving towards Gaming. When it links up with Gaming, Man Chai will leave the field and reset the CD for Gaming’s Elemental Skill, Bestial Ascent.

While Wushou Stance is active, when Gaming lands with Charmed Cloudstrider attack or completes the forward pounce attack from Bestial Ascent with over 50% HP, he will summon Man Chai again.
Each Gaming can only have 1 Man Chai on the field simultaneously. This effect will be canceled once Gaming leaves the field.
Ascension 1 Passive: Dance of Amity
After Bestial Ascent‘s Plunging Attack: Charmed Cloudstrider hits an opponent, Gaming will regain 1.5% of his Max HP once every 0.2s for 0.8s.
Ascension 4 Passive: Air of Prosperity
When Gaming has less than 50% HP, he will receive a 20% Incoming Healing Bonus. When Gaming has 50% HP or more, Plunging Attack: Charmed Cloudstrider will deal 20% more DMG.
Utility Passive: The Striding Beast
Increases the Movement SPD of your party members by 10% during the day (6:00 – 18:00).
Does not take effect in Domains, Trounce Domains, or Spiral Abyss. Not stackable with Passive Talents that provide the same effects.
Genshin Impact Gaming Guide: Abilities explained
Normal Attack: Stellar Rend
Gaming’s Normal, Charged, and Plunging attacks are inherently just going to be dealing Physical damage. His innate Elemental damage comes more from his Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst. Although with a certain play style, his Normal attacks can be used if they are in an Elemental Infusion.
Elemental Skill: Bestial Ascent
When you activate Gaming’s Elemental Skill, he dashes towards an enemy and, upon hitting them, uses them as a stepping stone to perform a higher leap, executing a Pyro Plunging Attack. However, landing from this attack costs Gaming 15% of his Max HP. The cool part is, thanks to his Ascension 1 Passive, he regains 6% of his HP over four ticks after landing. This unique combination of health-draining and healing abilities allows him to trigger equipment or ability effects that depend on HP changes.
The Elemental Skill’s Plunge Attack doesn’t have an Internal Cooldown (ICD), meaning it can apply Pyro and trigger an Elemental reaction with each plunge. This feature is crucial for Gaming’s team compositions based on reactions. Additionally, the Elemental Skill rapidly generates Pyro particles, providing the necessary energy for Gaming to power himself up.
Elemental Burst: As the Sunlit Sky’s Singing Salute
When you activate Gaming’s Elemental Burst, he not only heals 30% of his HP instantly but also briefly infuses himself with Pyro. This handy feature can help cleanse any unwanted Elemental Auras. Gaming also summons his trusty companion, Man Chai, for 12 seconds. Man Chai packs a punch with a massive AoE Pyro damage upon summoning.

After dealing damage, Man Chai returns to Gaming, and when he’s back, Gaming resets his Elemental Skill cooldown. Now, when Gaming pounces and successfully executes his Elemental Skill’s Plunging Attack with more than 50% HP, Man Chai comes back to reset the cooldown again. By repeating this clever mechanic, you can make Gaming perform his Plunge attacks repeatedly until the Elemental Burst duration ends. That’s why it’s crucial to keep his HP high.
It’s worth noting that distancing yourself from Man Chai can prolong the Skill Cooldown reset. To speed things up, simply walk or sprint towards Man Chai to get back to him faster and keep the action flowing smoothly.
Ascension 1 Passive: Dance of Amity
As stated with his Elemental Skill explanation, he regains 1.5% of his Max HP once every 0.2s for 0.8s.
Ascension 4 Passive: Air of Prosperity
With Gaming’s Ascension 4 Passive unlocked, he receives a 20% bonus to incoming healing when his HP is below half. If he has more than half of his HP, his Elemental Skill Plunging Attack, known as Charmed Cloudstrider, gets a 20% damage boost. To get the most out of Gaming’s damage potential, it’s beneficial to keep him consistently at high HP.
Utility Passive: The Striding Beast
Nothing special in this Passive. Gamings help with movement speed during the daytime which can help with exploration.
Genshin Impact Gaming Guide: Playstyle
Gaming is an on-field DPS unit that. All in all, it is a simple game-play loop that mainly focuses on having his Elemental Burst active while spamming his Skill. In between his Skill cooldowns, he can use his Claymore attacks while waiting for the Skill to reset and to drive his teammate’s abilities. However, if you play Gaming with Xianyun and Bennett with his C6 then you may need to prioritize Gaming’s Normal Attacks more than his Elemental Burst. Here are the tips to play him properly in Genshin Impact.
- Activate Elemental Burst
- Repeatedly spam his Elemental Skill
- Generate enough Pyro Particles to bring his Burst back up.

Genshin Impact Gaming Guide: Best Artifacts for Gaming
Artifact Stats
Gaming’s Energy Recharge (ER) requirement is quite high despite having a 60 Burst Cost. Generally, ER requirements will depend on your Gaming’s team comps. In a Solo Pyro team, he would need around 160-180% ER. If coupled with another Pyro character this requirement will be a lot less in around 140-150% ER. Additionally, his Constellation 4 lowers his ER target by around 30%. So keep these stats in mind while you stack up Gaming’s ER.
Sands | Goblet | Circlet |
---|---|---|
ATK/EM/ER (ATK is more for strictly a mono-pyro team) (EM for Vaporize/Melt focused teams) (ER is also viable if your Gaming cannot sufficiently fulfill his Burst needs) | Pyro DMG/ATK (ATK Goblet is viable only if Gaming is receiving a high amount of DMG bonus.) | Crit Rate/Crit DMG |
Artifact Sets
Marechaussee Hunter | 2-Piece Normal and Charged Attack DMG +15%. 4-Piece When current HP increases or decreases, the CRIT Rate will be increased by 12% for 5s. Max 3 stacks. Reason: As Gaming has an HP change mechanic he can fully utilize the 4-piece bonus. When his HP increases or decreases, the bonus piece provides a high amount of crit rate buff. The innate HP consumption and the self-healing will easily trigger the effect. Do keep in mind that if you do equip this on Gaming, he needs to switch to a more Crit DMG build in his main artifact stats or in his weapon stat in case of over-criting. |
Crimson Witch of Flames | 2-Pieces: Pyro DMG Bonus +15% 4-Pieces: Increases Overloaded, Burning, and Burgeon DMG by 40%. Increases Vaporize and Melt DMG by 15%. Using Elemental Skill increases the 2-Piece Set Bonus by 50% of its starting value for 10s. Max 3 stacks. Reason: As a standard Pyro DPS, Gaming like every other Pyro Unit can utilize the Crimson Witch set. It provides a stackable Pyro DMG bonus from repeatedly using Gaming Elemental Skill and gives a reaction bonus for any Pyro-related reactions. |
Gilded Dreams | 2-Pieces: Increases Elemental Mastery by 80. 4-Pieces: Within 8s of triggering an Elemental Reaction, the character equipping this will obtain buffs based on the Elemental Type of the other party members. ATK is increased by 14% for each party member whose Elemental Type is the same as the equipping character, and Elemental Mastery is increased by 50 for every party member with a different Elemental Type. Each of the aforementioned buffs will count up to 3 characters. This effect can be triggered once every 8s. The character who equips this can still trigger its effects when not on the field. Reason: Gilded Dream is a more alternative build for a more EM-focused Gaming build and team comp. Here the set provides EM and ATK bonuses based on the team comp. |
Gladiator’s Finale/Shimenawa’s Reminiscence/Vermillion Hereafter/Echoes of an Offering/Nighttime Whispers in the Echoing Woods Crimson Witch of Flames | 2-Piece Bonus ATK+18% 2-Pieces: Pyro DMG Bonus +15% Reason: If you cannot acquire a full 4-piece set yet then the 2-piece bonuses are a good alternative option. |
Genshin Impact Gaming Guide: Best Team Compositions for Gaming
A vaporized reaction play style will be one of the main team comps for Gaming since it’s easy to execute and provides the highest output of damage. In this team comp, you would mainly consistently set up a Hydro application on the enemy so Gaming’s plunges can almost always trigger a vaporize reaction.
The usual off-field Hydro applicators are Xingqiu, Yelan, and Furina so you can have either one of them or can run a double-hydro for more of safer and more consistent vaporize reactions. The other slot will generally be composed of buffers such as Bennett and Kazuha for resistant shredding.
Gaming | Xingqiu/Yelan/Furina | Bennett | Kazuha |
---|---|---|---|
Pyro Main DPS | Hydro Applicator/Hydro DMG/ Vaporize reaction | Healer/ATK Buffer/Particle Generator/if C6 Pyro infusion enabler | Resistant Shredder/Buffer/Crowd Control |
Our new Anemo Support Xianyun is an amazing unit to be paired up with Gaming that synergizes with his kit. Xianyun can consistently heal Gaming and provide plunge attack-focused buffing for him. Although she is not an absolute requirement for Gaming, she is still quite a big damage boost for him which allows him to plunge outside of his Skill.
However, even if Gaming plunges he would definitely need a C6 Bennett in his roster to deal Pyro-infused damage outside of his Skill. A C6 Bennett coupled with Xianyun would essentially be Gaming’s best support overall. In the last slot, we can get Xiangling for the perfect mono Pyro build. Or can bring in even Xingqiu for vape or Rosaria for melt-focused teams.
Gaming | Xianyun | Bennett | Xiangling/Xinqiu/Rosaria |
---|---|---|---|
Pyro Main DPS | Healer/Plunge Attack Buffer | Healer/ATK Buffer/Particle Generator/if C6 Pyro infusion enabler | Consistent Pyro Applicator for Xiangling/Rest can provide Pyro-focused reactions |
Last but not least, Gaming can be played on a Burgeon-focused roster if he is built as an EM enabler. You definitely need a combination of good Hydro and Dendro applicators in this team which means Yelan/Xingqiu/Furina for Hydro and Nahida/Baizhu/Yaoyao for Dendro are a must in this team comp. In this way, there can be a consistent production of Dendro Cores.
However note that with the Dendro Core, his own HP consumption might also be more vulnerable combined with Burgeon’s self-damage so having a capable healer is valuable as well.
Gaming | Nahida | Baizhu/Yaoyao | Yelan/Xingqiu/Furina |
---|---|---|---|
Pyro Main DPS | Dendro Applicator/Dendro Cores Enabler/Dendro DMG | Dendro Applicator/Healer | Hydro Applicator/Hydro DMG/ Vaporize reaction |
Genshin Impact Gaming Guide: Constellations

Gaming is perfectly functional at C0. Although his C3-C4 provides great flexibility to his kit overall C6 maximizes his DMG potential. Players can check this piece out for a detailed breakdown of Gaming’s constellations.
