Genshin Impact Inazuma update: Puzzle and Open-world mechanics guide

Inazuma, the secluded island nation that worships Baal, the Electro Archon is a region full of mysteries. Patch 2.0 Update has brought this highly anticipated region with it on the 21st of July, 2021. The players get access to this region post the completion of the first part of the Archon Quest Chapter II: Act I The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia. Inazuma is full of electro elements along with its puzzle. These new puzzle mechanics can be hard to grasp since they are very different from the puzzle-solving tactics used in Liyue and Mondstat. Players will also come across new open-world mechanics. In this Genshin Impact article, we will focus on new puzzle mechanics in the Inazuma update along with open-world mechanics. We will also be discussing how to solve them.

Genshin Impact: Puzzle mechanics in the Inazuma

Discharge, Relay and Culmination Stone

This Genshin Impact puzzle involves three components of Discharge Stone, Relay Stone and Culmination Stone in the Inazuma update. The aim is to complete the circuit of current starting from discharge stone to culmination stone using the relay stone. The Relay Stones are movable whereas both discharge and culmination are stationary. Instead of a Relay Stone, one can also use electro enemies or the characters affected by Electro to complete the circuit.

Lightning Strike Probe

Lightning Strike Probe

This sundial-looking device changes its direction towards anything that is affected by Electro. On the base, there is an arrow, demarcating a direction. One needs to try the dial to point in that direction. One must hold Beidou’s skill marks her with Electro. Therefore, she can be used to easily solve this puzzle.

Cube Patterns

Cube Patterns

The glowing cubes will change their direction or pattern when attacked. There are two types of cubes. One of which is solved based on the direction, while the other is solved based on the pattern that is the number of petals that are lit up.

In the first type of cube, players need all of the cubes to face in the same direction. Next in the second type of cubes, striking the cubes will increase the number of petals that are lit up on both sides of the cube, that is struck and its adjacent cube. In some cases, only a change of the pattern is noticed on the cube that is struck. Players need to keep striking until all the cubes have the same number of petals.

Sacred Stones and Thunderbearer Mirrors

Sacred Stones and Thunderbearer Mirrors

These are huge pillar-like structures found in the islands of Inazuma. There are two mechanics that Genshin Impact players need to understand to solve the puzzle of the Sacred Stone Mounds and the Thunderbearer Mirrors. On interacting with these structures, players can change the angle and the elevation.

Sacred Stone Mounds, when attacked, will fire off an electrical current. This blast can be aimed by interacting with it. The blast is in the direction in which the Sacred Stone is facing. The Thunderbearer Mirrors, as their name suggests, are mirrors that can reflect this blast in a direction based on their orientation and angle.

This puzzle mechanism is kind of similar to the Hymal Rings Puzzles found in the temporary islands of Golden Apple Archipelago that players got access to during patch 1.6. Travelers need to use all the mirrors in order to properly bounce the electric current to strike the sacred stones.

Memento Lens

Memento Lens is a gadget that can help uncover mysterious stories in Inazuma. To acquire this lens, travelers need to complete the quest Sacrificial Offering and to start this quest players first need to finish A strange story in Konda quests first. Players can equip the Memento Lens from the Gadget section in Genshin Impact.

It is used to scan Kitsune statues to reveal hidden mechanisms and objects. To scan these statues imbued with the electro element, players need to point the gadget in the direction of the statue.

Electrograna

Probably the most essential material for exploration in Inazuma, Electrograna is used to cross barriers, ride thunder sphere and act as a protection against thunderstone and balethunder.

Electroseelie

Electroseelie

Electro Seelie is Inazuma’s version of the normal Seelie found in the other two nations of Mondstat and Liyue. They serve the same functionality. Guiding back them to their respective Seelie courts will reward you with chests. The only difference between the Electro Seelie and the normal Seelie (green in appearance) is that Electro Seelie moves at a much higher speed. Therefore, players need to pay more attention while following the Seelie.

Sword Hilt

Sword Hilt

Players will encounter a lot of swords on the island Musoujin Gorge. On approaching the sword, a prompt “Touch the Sword Hilt” appears on the screen. However, in doing so, travellers will be hit by lightning that applies an electro-charged doing overtime damage. To avoid this damage and solve the puzzle players must have an Electrogranum with them, which can be summoned from the Sakura Bough. Touching the sword will summon a Samurai and upon defeating him players will get a reward. One puzzle combines electro Seelie and the sword hilt. In this situation, players will need to touch the swords in the order in which the Seelie moved.

Bake-danuki

Bake-danuki

Not exactly a puzzle, but this is a new type of  “Follow me” thing that is similar to the squirrels that grant travelers gold in Liyue and Mondstat. Travelers need to follow the Bake-danuki by hearing the music it generates. It gets progressively difficult to track Bake-danuki, as it keeps changing into different forms. One needs to follow it all the way and earn a prize.
