This 3.2 patch update of Genshin Impact has finally concluded its Sumeru Archon Storyline by releasing the last part of the Quest: ACT V ‘’Akasha Pulses, the Kalpa Flame Rises”. This is a direct continuation of the previous quests ACT III “Dreams, Emptiness, Deception” and ACT IV “King Deshret and the Three Magi”. In this Genshin Impact guide, we will be providing a direct Walkthrough of the quest along with an analysis and review of the story plotline.
How to unlock and complete the Sumeru Archon Quest Act V “Akasha Pulses, the Kalpa Flame Rises” in Genshin Impact
- Players must be at Adventure Rank (AR) 35 or above
- Completed the previous Archon Quest ACT IV “King Deshret and the Three Magi”
Genshin Impact Sumeru Archon Quest Act V Part I: Through the Predawn Night
- Leave the village chief’s house and wait until the next day to talk to Candace.
- Enter the village chief’s house and discuss plans with the rest of the group.
- Leave the village chief’s house and talk to Candace again.
- Meet up with Alhaitham and go to the Eremite base.
- Go to Caravan Ribat and meet up with Cyno.
- Talk to the soldiers stationed in Caravan Ribat. Wait until the appointed time (two days later)
- Go to the east side of the desert and help Cyno arrest the Eremites.
- Talk to Cyno

Genshin Impact Sumeru Archon Quest Act V “Akasha Pulses, the Kalpa Flame Rises”: In-Depth Review and Discussion
Genshin Impact’s ended their final act of Sumeru with quite a bang, giving us a satisfying conclusion while also dropping very important lore-related information. The story starts where we were left off, back in Aaru Village. After the previous Archon Quest, ‘King Deshret and the Three Magi’, where the traveler and the unexpected trusted group of acquaintances (Cyno, Dehya, Alhaitham, and Candace) finally figure out the whole truth of the Sages’ plan and create a new God, the cast concluded that their next mission is to defeat the corrupted Sages and rescue their Lesser Lord Kusanali (Nahida).
So the group gather around and come up with a well-versed plan amongst themselves. At this point, players have no clue or idea of what plan they have all cooked up since the scene pans to the next one and cuts off once Dehya, Alhaitham, Cyno, and the Traveler gather around the table.
As the story progresses we finally see their plan unfold with twists and turns. There is a reason why many people in the community have praised the sudden rise of quality in story-telling with the Sumeru Archon plot. Compared to the previous archon quests, the Traveler does not need to shoulder every single task by themselves as the group has clearly shown to be capable of handling each of their tasks and objectives accordingly.
The story also showed a total shift of POV (point-of-view) from the Traveler to the other characters in the quest. We as players get to see how the missions were laid out and achieved by each character, for example: when we as players get to play as Nilou where we navigate through the Akademia and let her act as a distraction for the guards by dancing in front of the Akademia and also when we even get to play as an NPC named Isak where we gather the guards around in Sumeru by him dressing up as Nahida and running around. It was refreshing and interesting to see such a story-telling tactic being in use and hopefully, Genshin Impact provides us with more POV shifts in the future.
Some notable characters stood out the most in this final act, one of them being Alhaitham. Alhaitham with his acts of arrogance and his superiority complex helped the most in the mission by strategically planning all the courses of action. One remarkable moment throughout the whole story was his act when the Travelers and he were caught by Grand Sage Azar. Alhaitham gave a quite ‘Oscar-worthy’ performance, with him acting corrupted due to using the Forbidden Knowledge Capsule and betraying the Traveler. Many players were indeed fooled by the grand play as we had no clue that it was all part of the plan until later in the story.
Speaking of notable characters. The Sumeru antagonists rose the stakes in the story with Scaramouche and II Dottore playing major roles in the schemes of the Akademia. Scaramouche was made to be their new God and Dottore was responsible for making it plausible to do so. Scaramouche is an interesting character ever since he was introduced back in the ‘Unreconciled Stars’ event and again appeared in the Inazuma Archon Arc.
After the game showed his backstory, you could see him rapidly falling apart and getting more unhinged just to obtain a ‘heart’ (The Gnosis). With a surreal fight scene between the Traveler/Nahida vs. The Balladeer, he finally breaks down in desperation for the Gnosis till he collapses on the ground unconscious. Judging by the way things end and with Nahida taking him under her care, seems like Scaramouche’s story isn’t over and players should keep their eyes peeled for future quests that may or may not be about his path to redemption.
Dottore and Nahida’s whole interaction afterward during the last part of the arc was interesting to witness. Dottore was another antagonist that played a part in the Sumeru quest. Although we know very little of his story, he proved to be a chilling and messed up individual nonetheless having no empathy for living beings and using people as experiments as his talking to Nahida proved. Nahida showed herself to be a true God of Wisdom when she threatened to walk up the Heavenly Principles and played with the negotiations fairly well on her part with the two Gnosis in exchange for information.
Nahida revealed to be a part of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata, has once again shown how empathetic and kind she is, having to sacrifice herself from existing and being a part of people’s memories. The cutscene was sad and moving to her great sacrifice to save Irminsul and the people of Sumeru.
Nonetheless seems like Genshin Impact has come to the part of the main storyline in the game where we finally get some huge lore-related information and answers to some of our questions. Talks about the Fake Sky, the Traveler’s sibling being part of this world of Teyvat, Fontaine’s situation and let’s not forget how the Traveler is not the only out-worldly person that entered Teyvat.
