Genshin Impact Sumeru Archon Quest Act IV “King Deshret and the Three Magi”: In-Depth Review and Discussion
From the last Archon Quest ‘Dreams, Emptiness, Deception,’ the Traveler and the rest of the characters continue to investigate the disappearances of the Village Keepers (Mad Scholars) that were exiled in Aaru Village by the Akademia in Genshin Impact Sumeru Archon Quest Act IV.
We’re once again teaming up with Cyno for the moment and investigating with him together as we uncover the clues and information about Isak’s grandpa. Cyno is yet again proving himself to be someone you should not mess with as he makes quick work of intimidating some men who were spreading misinformation about Scarlet King (King Deshret).
His personality and ideals are evident throughout the quest, strong-willed with high moral values for justice. Even though in later parts of the story, his composure breaks a little when he finds out that he’s indirectly helping the Akademia Sages, it does not stop him from fixing his wrongs and getting to the bottom of this mishap.
After Cyno, Dehya takes reign of the story for a bit as she conjures up a plan to find the source of the misinformation about the resurrection of the Scarlet King (King Deshret). Dehya is yet another character that really shined in this Act of the Archon Quest. As someone who hailed from the Desert and live outside of the Wall of Samiel, you would think she would have somewhat of bitter resentment towards the Forest people inside of the Walls judging by her initial monologue when we reach Caravan Ribet.
But it was all a ruse to weed out the radicals who were talking about the resurrection. Just like how Dehya explained, pledging War and fighting between the two regions would not help anybody, it would only make the situation worse. Having been a mercenary, she may be self-centred and act very brash in the heat of the moment, seeing as how she did not hesitate to have her arm cut off, but that does not stop her from having clear principles and sticking to them (and even pick a fight in some cases).
Lastly, the final character to touch up on is Alhaitham, the most mysterious character from the rest of the cast. Having been gone throughout the first part of the story, he comes back with some information about the Village Keepers by himself and requests the Traveler to tag along with him. This quest does quell a bit of the player’s curiosity that they may have about Alhaitham. Overall he still seems to be the same as the last time we encountered him; closed off, keeps his point across, is mostly there for personal gain, and is a major know-it-all.
Nevertheless, this Archon quest in particular really emphasized the Desert Folk’s lives and the conflict they have with the Akademia and the people from the Forest. Suffice it to say, their anger and resentment are fully justified. Being segregated from the Forest and looked down upon can make anybody feel anger within, to the point that the Desert people were clinging onto the hope that they can resurrect their true God, the Scarlet King (King Deshret). But later on, it is evident that it is all just lies that were spread out because of the Akademia to deter them away from their true plans.
As it stands, war serves no purpose and we soon realize that in the end the Scarlet King and Greater Lord Rukkhadevata indeed were in good relations with each other. In a shocking plot twist, it was heavily implied that Lesser Lord Kusanali (Nahida) is actually Greater Lord Rukkhadevata but was transformed into a child because she used up all her powers to prevent Forbidden Knowledge from spreading.
With the truth out and the internal conflict cleared up, the characters all band together in solidarity having one mission in mind, to defeat the evil Sages and save their God, Lesser Lord Kusanali. Overall, Genshin Impact Sumeru Archon Quest Act IV ‘King Deshret and the Three Magi’ and ACT III ‘Dreams, Emptiness, Deception’ have been incredible and is a great big setup for the final Act for the conclusion of the Sumeru Archon Quest that will be released hopefully in the next patch, 3.2.
