The hardest endgame challenge of Genshin Impact Version 6.5, titled Stygian Onslaught, is here. You can face off three bosses across 6 difficulty stages and conquer these stages for rewards, such as Primogems, Dust of Enlightenment, Mora, Hero’s Wit, and also grind Artifacts. In this guide, I will explain how you can defeat those bosses and earn those sweet rewards.
Genshin Impact Version 6.5 Stygian Onslaught Guide: Boss Mechanisms
1. Radiant Moongecko
It’s a world boss from Nod Krai. Upon entering combat, Radiant Moongecko creates 9 small geo shields that last 25 seconds, and we need to destroy all 9 shields within 25 seconds. Those shields break faster with Geo, Lunar Crystalize, Overload, and Claymore damage. If we aren’t able to break the shield within the given time, the boss’s resistance to all elements increases by 70% and deals AoE damage.

If we can break the shield within 25 seconds, then the boss loses some HP, 60% Geo resistance, and is stunned for a few seconds. Once the stunned state ends, the boss enters the Enhanced Radiant Cocoon state. In this state, all characters looses 100% Crit Rate, 50% Damage Bonus, and 40% healing bonus.
But if the character is healed to 100% HP, the character’s Crit Rate increases by 15%, Damage Bonus by 15%, and the boss is stunned for 15 seconds. This is the trickiest boss in this Stygian Onslaught.
2. Tenebrous Papilla
It’s a world boss from Natlan. Upon entering combat, this boss creates a shield and enters a charging state for 13 seconds. To break that shield, we have to deal 72 elemental damage, but if you have a Nightsoul character, you need only 24 Nightsoul damage. If we break the shield within 13 seconds, the boss will be stunned for 15 seconds andlooses 50% resistance to all elements.
But if we can’t break the shield within the given time limit, the boss unleashes an AoE charge attack that will finish your character instantly.
3. Frostnight Herra
Upon entering combat, this boss enters the Gloomveiled state and has 130% resistance against all elements. It will record the damage we do in this phase, and it ends after 50 hits, but one Lunar reaction damage is counted as 6 hits. After that, the boss changes its Elemental Type to the element whose DMG it received the most during the time.

But if it gets hit by Lunar Reaction DMG, its Elemental type becomes Elementless. The best team against this team is the Lunar reaction-based teams, or you can use Double DPS.
Genshin Impact Version 6.5 Stygian Onslaught Guide: Best Teams
In this section, we will talk about the best teams against each boss. We also provide a short explanation of how to use your character against the boss’s mechanism. We have already explained the roles of every character in their respective teams. Check them out if you are unfamiliar with their roles.
1. Radiant Moongecko
| Main DPS | Sub DPS | Support | Support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zibai | Linnea | Columbina | Illuga |

This team is best against this boss. Zibai, Linnea, and Columbina break this boss shield easily within the given time. Use Columbina with Prototype amber and save Linnea burst for the Enhanced Radiant Cocoon state. Now just follow the usual rotation.
2. Tenebrous Papilla
| Main DPS | Sub DPS | Sub DPS | Support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chasca | Fischel | Durin | Cithlali |
| Kinich | Emilie | Durin | Iansan |
In this team, you don’t need any extra preparation; just follow your usual rotation. If you don’t have this team, you can remove this boss shield quickly with the burning and swirl reaction. But if you don’t have any Burning or Swirl reaction team, then use a character who can deliver a rapid element attack.
3. Frostnight Herra
| Main DPS | Sub DPS | Sub DPS+Support | Support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flins | Ineffa | Columbina | Sucrose |
| Neffer | Columbina | Lauma | Nahida |
This boss has multiple AoE attacks, so if you are bad at dodging, I recommend using a healer in Neffer’s team. If you don’t have Nod Krai characters who can trigger Lunar Reaction, then use two different element DPS in a single team. When the boss is Gloomveiled, use a different element DPS, and when the boss becomes immune to the element, use your Second DPS.
Final Thoughts
Genshin Impact Version 6.5 Stygian Onslaught bosses are harder to deal with because of their tricky mechanisms, but if you use the characters mentioned above, you can easily clear them without any problem.
