Pokémon Go Shadow Hitmontop Raid: Best Moveset, Counters, and Tips

Guide for the best counters against Shadow Hitmontop during Battle Raids!

Shadow Hitmontop is a Tier 3 Shadow Raid Boss in Pokémon Go. Shadow Raids allow you to fight against Shadow Pokémon and also give you a chance to capture them. It is mostly blue with short legs which have white bands along with big blue feet. It also has a brown tail which ends with a spiky blue sphere on top of it. Since it is a Shadow Raid Boss, it will be difficult to fight against even though it is a Tier 3 Raid. So in this Pokémon Go guide, we are going to talk about the best ways and counters that I’ve found to be the most effective against Shadow Hitmontop during a fight.

Shadow Hitmontop in Pokémon Go

Shadow Hitmontop is a pure-type Flying Pokémon with a maximum CP of 2156 at level 50. It is weak towards Fairy, Flying, and Psychic-type attacks. Since it is a Shadow Raid Boss, you will need to carry Shadow Shards and Purified Gems along with yourself into the battle as without them you’ll have no chance of winning against Shadow Hitmontop. If you are a low-level player or don’t have the best counters, I recommend you to go into the battle along with some of your friends and not alone.

The best moves that I’ve found to be useful from the moveset of Shadow Hitmontop are Counter and Close Combat. Both of them have a combined DPS of 68.2 and it is also the best combination of moves that can be used in Pokémon Gyms and PvP battles. You can also check out other good moves from its movepool such as Rock Smash, Gyro Ball, Stone Edge, and Triple Axel.

Shadow Hitmontop will be quite difficult to fight against even if you have the best counters as it is a Shadow Pokémon. So to have an increased chance at winning, I’ll recommend you try to avoid fighting in Cloudy weather as it boosts Shadow Hitmontop’s even further.
