UCL Fantasy 2021/22 Matchday 2 Differentials: 6 players that can help boost your rank

It's easy to pick the big players, but who are some of the lesser know potential stars of the competition?

It is only the 2nd week yet of this season’s UEFA Champions League, and all of us have already got the glimpses this tournament can offer. Be it the on-field competition, or the UCL fantasy league, it is generally the big names of football that we anticipate delivering. However, sometimes it turns out that the names nobody thought of, delivers. In the 1st game week, such instances occurred, and there are chances of such happening in the upcoming game week too. Such differentials make one manager edge out another in terms of points in the long run. It’s a good idea to have a couple of these differentials as they can really give a strong edge over your opponents, and a return from them can really help you with the advantage. Here is a list of UCL Fantasy 2021/22 Differentials that can bolster your squads ahead of matchday 2.

UCL Fantasy 2021/22 Matchday 2 Differentials

1. Edin Džeko (Forward) – 7.5 million

The Bosnian from Inter Milan is selected by only 1% of fantasy managers. Although he failed to perform in the last game against Real Madrid, he had 3 shots on goal. It is his league form, however, which tempts us to consider him as a differential. He has 4 goals and 1 assist till now in the league in 5 games.

With over 1.2 shots on goal out of 1.6 shots per game, an xG of 1.24, and considering his next opponent to be Shakhtar Donetsk, Džeko might turn up to be a differential, fantasy managers are looking for. If you are considering your limitless this weekend, Dzeko can be a worthy inclusion.

2. DuÅ¡an Tadić (Forward) – 8.5 million

The Serbian international was perhaps the odd-man-out in Ajax’s last UCL outing, against Sporting CP. While his team ran riot over the Portuguese side, he was unluckily left with no goals or assists in that 5-1 win. However, for a forward with 4 goals and 5 assists so far in 6 league games, a 1% ownership looks a bit low. This is what makes Tadić a great differential. Almost 4.3 key passes per game, an xG of 1.13, and around 1.7 shots per game stats almost might strengthen our faith in him as a differential choice.

3. Jack Grealish (Midfielder) – 8.0 million

The £100M signing of Manchester City, has so far been Pep’s part of plans. A manager well-known for his squad rotations much to the fantasy managers’ dismay, under him, however, Grealish has started all the league and UCL games so far. With 1 goal and 1 assist, he helped Manchester City get that 6-3 win over Leipzig last time out.

Although he is currently short in terms of goals and assists with only 2 each across all competitions, he still can be considered in the midfield of any fantasy team. He has by far made almost 4 key passes per game, which, if converted in the game against Paris Saint-Germain, may provide assist points to Grealish. Owned by just 8% of fantasy managers, he might just provide that extra push in your accumulated points.

4. Christopher Nkunku (Midfielder) – 7.5 million

Despite Leipzig‘s 3-6 loss against Manchester City last time out, it was the Frenchman’s hattrick for his team which stole the show. The midfielder owned by only 4% of fantasy managers, bagged 20 points for his hattrick and the man of the match award. Since then, he has scored 2 and assisted 1 goal in a league game against Hertha Berlin.

Next Leipzig plays against Club Brugge at home, which looks like another fixture where Nkunku can show more of what he got. With an xG of 2.13, and 67% shots on target besides having 13 key passes and creating 14 chances so far, Nkunku looks like another differential managers should consider. The point to be noted is his cheaper price at only €7.5m.

5. Marcos Alonso (Defender) – 5.0 million

The European champions are currently in great form and have conceded just one goal from open play in the league and UCL. Needless to say, a defender from such a team can indeed prove to be fruitful. Owned by only 5% of fantasy managers, Alonso is the best asset you may have from Chelsea’s defense.

Alonso is Tuchel’s first choice Left-Wingback, and sometimes also makes him play as a left-midfielder. He has over 2.4 key passes per game in the league and almost 2 shots on target per game. These stats made him collect 1 goal and 1 assist in this season so far. With the style Chelsea plays in and considering their next opponent to be an off-form and transitional Juventus side, you may give it a shot with differential choice Marcos Alonso. Also, their next opponent Juventus will miss the services of Alvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala upfront, increasing the chances of the Blues’ clean sheet.

6. Andy Robertson (Defender) – 6.5 million

The Scottish fullback season hasn’t caught up with its usual pace till now. His being a differential choice is because of his 4% ownership. A fullback of Robertson’s caliber always has the chance to provide an assist, and with the likes of Alisson, Van Dijk, and Matip being his defensive partners, clean sheet points can also be expected from him. Liverpool plays FC Porto away this week.

With Klopp now prioritizing rotation in the defense and with the resting of Virgil, Matip, and Robertson himself in the previous few matches, we see all three of these players starting against Porto. Robertson has so far had 11 key passes in 3 appearances, and as said earlier, keeping the clean sheet factor too in mind, you can consider the Liverpool left-back. Also, lest you forget, he is also a setpiece taker of a team that loves scoring from setpieces.
